Light Commercial Vehicle update for October

New Fiat Professional light commercial vehicle – Scudo

Fiat Professional have announced the return of the Scudo nameplate as they go into production at the historic Stellantis plant in Hordain, near Valenciennes in northern France. The Fiat Professional Light Commercial Vehicle will be available with either ICE or BEV powertrains.

The Scudo will be available in three configurations – Van, Combi and Cab with platform – to meet all professional transportation requirements. The vehicle will be based on the EMP2 platform, the modular nature of which makes it possible to meet specific needs in various markets. The same platform is also used for other Stellantis models including Peugeot Expert, Citro?n Dispatch, and Vauxhall Vivaro.

Citro?n’s commercial version of Ami – Ami Cargo Electric – will go on sale in the UK in 2022.

Hot on the heels of the announcement that Citro?n Ami will come to the UK in spring 2022, Citro?n UK is pleased to confirm that the commercial version – Ami Cargo Electric – will also launch in the UK during 2022.

Ami Cargo will be adapted for the UK market, but will remain left-hand drive. The extremely compact Ami Cargo is designed to allow fleet and business operators to deliver packages and run services in urban areas. New Ami Cargo Electric features a 5.5kWh Lithium battery pack, connected to a 6kW electric motor for 100% emissions-free driving. The vehicle can be fully charged in just three hours and is capable of up to 46 miles of range. With zero CO2 emissions in use, Ami Cargo is exempt from current and future Congestion and Ultra-low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) charges.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles launched coolest conversion for the Volkswagen Crafter Luton

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched a new refrigeration conversion for the Volkswagen Crafter Luton, built by Recognised Partner, The Cold Consortium Ltd.

The new conversion is based on the existing Engineered To Go Crafter Luton by Ingimex and adds refrigeration capability to help with the growing demand for chilled commercial vehicles. The sector, which supplies industries such as pharmaceutical and grocery deliveries, continues to expand as customers increasingly turn to home deliveries.

The loadspace of the refrigerated Crafter Luton can be chilled to 0oC with a temperature-controlled multi-strip curtain fitted to the rear shutter. Pressure-bonded insulation panels offer maximum strength while reducing weight, and the bulkhead panel is strengthened to carry the refrigeration system evaporator. Motion-activated infrared (PIR) sensor lighting replaces the standard load bay lighting.

Fiat Professional study found drivers were less stressed when driving electric vans

A new study by Fiat Professional has revealed the quieter driving cabin of an electric van makes drivers feel less stressed when compared to driving a traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle.

The Van Delivery Stress Test, a first of its kind study when looking at vans, was commissioned to gain a greater understanding of the physiological and psychological impact on drivers when comparing the different levels of cabin noise in an electric and ICE light commercial vehicle.

Overall, it found drivers produced significantly lower levels of sweat, had a lower heart rate and lower body temperature when compared to the ICE van.
