Light Changed Everything

Light Changed Everything

Everything has been captured, described, created and there is nothing new under the sun. Photographers and artists seek to show the mundane in a new light, to show something to the viewer they may not have seen through color, perspective or context.

This evening, I saw a trumpet flower that was catching the first glint of afternoon light. What attracted me was how much the light actually changed the color of the flower and made the air around it abstract.

Once I began shooting, I found several different aspects of the light and noticed many different opportunities to allow the light to model different flowers and structures in the garden. To see an autumn garden come to life in a new light is much like seeing one's own life in a different perspective.

It is so easy to see everything the same, it becomes a form of blindness. We tend to not see beyond our own limited view of both ourselves and the way we interact with the world. To see differently, that which has always been, to find light in the darkness and hope in the hopeless: this is where faith can show us a world that only becomes available if we allow light to change everything.

Praying for the best outcome of a situation is hope, Finding joy with any outcome...that's faith. Both are equally important.
