Lift Off Leaders

In the last few weeks, I have been closely observing leadership and what it means to guide others. I have received many comments about how it is the key to being a great employee to be able to see the person above you and how not being able to see your leader can lead to you slowly devaluing your work.
What is bad leadership?
In the workplace, we can see how every person has a unique personality that shines differently. Through leadership, I have seen introverted personalities transform into someone else. Leadership can come in every shape and form.
Being a leader depends on many factors. People define leadership differently in terms of metrics, OKRS, tasks to be completed, etc. What we can define, however, is someone who is not a leader.
Pursues his/her own dreams and not the teams
One of the main examples a person can portray bad leadership is when he/she puts their own interests first, rather than their teams. Being more focused on personal interests rather than making the team succeed altogether, will not help to guide effectively. Leading means influencing others through direction, inspiration, and motivation toward the attainment of organizational objectives.

Never Listens
I dont remember a day when a team dont have anything to say. Teams will face challenges every day, which will be difficult to overcome, and they will need someone who listens and gives advice on how to overcome those challenges. In order to be a leader, you must be open to listening to all types of comments, even if they are negative.
Taking action
Listening and taking action are two completely different things. A leader should listen but also convert this listening skills into action. How can they turn their objectives towards what they have listened and how to turn the comments into action plans. Taking action should be the remanent of the comments they leaders receive, and this actions can be seen through mentoring, weekly conversations and tangible plans.
Sometimes all a team needs is someone to look up to to be effective.
