We skipped the rain ...

It would seem that every imaginable #communications and moral #crisis happened in day. Fast and furious as they say. We skipped the rain and had the downpour.
The #headlines ran faster than we could read them. Past encounters formed opinions and those who woke up to the news find themselves angry or ambivalent.
All this time, the communications people got into high gear. To my colleagues in the throes (forgive the word) and thick of things, you got this. The antithesis of crisis is calm. And calmness leads to clearer heads and better communications.
Time ironically is our friend. We work not to solve the immediate but to pave the way for recovery in the days ahead.
The most natural reaction to a bad #news is judgement and blame. We need to be better than this. It's easy to pull the trigger and let our opinions rip through mistakes and tragedy. It is far harder to stop a worsening situation.

1 年Wise words. You write for and to all of us who describe ourselves as communicators. We must be clear and calm in times of crisis or when issues mount up. Don’t let them get us down. Don’t wallow in excuses, legal or technical jargon. Write and speak clearly and calmly. Don’t rush to judgement and don’t hide behind a buracratic curtain.
