Life's biggest surprise. An exploration of a topic we normally avoid

COVID-19 has produced a fear level in the world that we have not seen since 9/11, almost 20 years ago. What is it that we fear? Death, of course. We are afraid that our loved ones will die from a terrible disease. Or maybe that we catch it ourselves, and vanish from the surface of the planet within a few weeks. Some of us fear more than anything else that we, unknowingly, might spread the virus to someone else - who has a weaker immune system, and therefore dies because of us.
This is of course all very natural, given the message that we hear over and over again from governments and mainstream media. But imagine for a moment how you would be in life if you had NO FEAR OF DEATH WHATSOEVER. “That’s impossible,” we might exclaim. After all, death is the final fall of the curtain. The end. Finito. No more of the good stuff. It is also the ultimate loss of a loved one. How can we not fear that?
We currently live in the paradigm of the one-life-theory. During the last century this theory has become so dominant in certain geographies (including Europe) and certain circles (including business), that alternative theories have become taboo. If you want to keep your good reputation intact, don’t even go there.
Well, this is exactly where we'll go. At least for 1 hour, and with an exceptionally skilled guide to lead us: Alex Riel. If nothing else, after the session we will have learned more about the biggest topic that most of us know very little about. We can stick fanatically to the one-life-theory, if it serves us, or we can dig deeper into the nuances of this complex and exciting topic, and see what happens.
Alex Riel is by no means the average hippie, new age believer, or Eastern mystic, or any other stereotype that we might imagine by now. Alex has a Master Degree in Philosophy from Copenhagen University, as well as being educated as a psychology teacher at the same institution. He has published 6 books on the topics of life philosophy, evolution of consciousness, quantum physics & mysticism, nature philosophy, and much more. Based on the model he has developed, meta-meaning, Alex has coached, educated and inspired thousands of people. He has worked substantially with business leaders and organisations for the past two decades. Recently, Alex has moved to Hvide Sande, living 200 meters from the waterfront, so that he can enjoy a daily paddle, as a welcomed break from the intellectual and spiritual work. On 6th July 2020 his new book comes out: Life’s Biggest Surprise.
In this session Alex will share the fruits of his substantial research into the topic of death. Scientific research and experiments are combined with philosophy, spirituality and mysticism to explore a landscape that has by many remained unexplored. Don’t worry, it won’t kill us to know a bit more about death. It may even make us feel more alive!
Some of the questions we will ask Alex to address during this talk:
- Why have you decided to write a book about death? It seems rather morbid, and something we would prefer not to think about, does it not?
- Does it really matter what we know or don’t know about death? Would it not be better to focus on life, since we cannot know anything about death for certain anyway?
- How does your understanding and life philosophy help you to live life more fully?
- Would it make a difference to the way we run our societies, and live our lives, if we had a different perspective on death?
- Let’s say we believe in a many-lives-theory. Would that not make us more sloppy with this life? Or more cynical towards other people’s suffering and death?
- Does the topic of death have any relevance for business? Does our choice of theory make a difference in how we show up as leaders, or how we conduct business overall?
- With your understanding of death, is there anything you wish that governments around the world had done differently faced with COVID-19?
Sign up for this 1-hour interactive exploration on Zoom—and get the opportunity to ask Alex Riel your questions. We will keep it to a relatively small group, so secure your ticket quickly.
Heartfully,
