That pretty much sums up 2021 for me! How about for you?

My plan heading into this year was to explode! To get back to the 2019 momentum I had created and take all of the virtual experience I had obtained and translate it into Live Event magic all over this country coupled with my biggest book launch yet!

Spoiler Alert: This did not happen.

This has been the strangest year.

However I learned that the best things that did happen in 2021 were the things that I certainly had not planned for.

Here goes:

January 5th 2021, I received a text message from a dear friend of mine letting me know that Gary V had just included me in his Best of the New Year Podcast episodes on his Gary Vee Audio Experience - listen to the show here Gary Vee Audio Best of The New Year ! I had no idea that was going to happen.

I prayed every night that my son would stay in person in school and was constantly worried that they would be sent back to virtual like he had been in 2020. That never happened. All that worrying for nothing.

Side Note: 2022 not going to worry about things that are out of my control. Waste of my energy and time. Are you with me on this one?

Live events still weren't back earlier in the year but I was racking up anywhere from 1-4 virtual events a day. While I definitely prefer Live In Person Events there was something special about being able to reach so many more people than I ever could have in person. Grateful to have spoken virtually for Nestle, Google, Nature's Sunshine, Santander Bank, Essex, Molson Coors, California Realtors Association and hundreds of others throughout the year. And yes it is still bizarre to realize I now know people I have never stood in the same room with. #2021

I had not anticipated the Delta variant which brought Live Events to a screeching halt again. Cancellation after cancellation my spirits were down.

Then there was a small window of live events that I was so grateful to headline like EO of South Florida, Lifewave Annual Conference, Cystic Fibrosis Charity Event, Edelman Financial, Fit Team Conference and a few others.

Definitely not the way I had planned 2021 to play out in fact I was certain it would have been the opposite - hundreds of in person events and a few virtual.

But in some strange turn of events this bizarre virtual time worked out in my favor but you need to know it didn't feel that way at the time. Then, I was unexpectedly named Top 50 Keynote Speaker of the Year for 2022 by Real Leaders! Check the article here Top 50 Keynote Speakers In The World 2022

The ups and downs this year were anything but predictable and no I wouldn't want to relive it again but hopefully in the same way 2021 was a bit better than 2020 maybe 2022 will be a bit better than 2021?

2021 was not all highlight moments for me. Far from it.

After working 2 years on my new book Overcome Your Villains the supply chain issues got the best of me and 3 days before a very calculated launch date, my orders were held back. We tried to cancel everything and move the launch but some how half of the books shipped and half did not. To this day I still get messages where readers are waiting to receive their books. Who could have planned for supply chain issues? Somehow as a rookie Author in 2018 everything went seamlessly and as a two time Author with a traditional publisher behind me, everything went wrong. #2021

Then out of left field my first book Confidence Creator was named Top 5 Books in 2021 to Boost Your Confidence check out the article here Forbes .

Didn't see that one coming. I guess it is worth mentioning that good things take time but great things may take a little longer.

The highs and lows have been coming fast and furious this year but unpredictable is the word I would use to sum up 2021. Looking so forward to what unpredictable adventure lies ahead of us in 2022!
