Life - A well crafted Enterprise?

How can anyone even think of comparing life with an enterprise? Intriguing and ridiculous as it may seem at first, there are a lot of parallels which can be drawn on how a well-structured enterprise runs, and how we can apply the same principles around our life to make it more beautiful.

Its said that we are the CEO of our life, but are we thinking and acting like one? Very often not, we get dragged into lot of emotional turmoil, work stress and lose track of things. Going further in the article, I am positive that we can derive a different perspective to craft our life better.

A company runs strong when it has a sound finance department which forecasts its cash flows and regularly monitors the balance sheets to keep things on track. The finance team also evaluates better opportunities to generate more money. In our parallel world, it's important that we start acquiring good knowledge on personal finance to build a well diversified & balanced portfolio. Having a better understanding of what your potential incomes are, where it is being spent, and how it is invested gives a strong base to start off with. Constant research should also be done to identify newer investment opportunities which helps your money work for you.

The HRs of any company are always in constant search of exceptional talent, as people form the core strength of any great company. Likewise, we should always look out for good friends, mentors and build a good supportive network, motivating us to achieve higher goals. Once you have the necessary human resources in a company, talent team works to get them trained based on the need of the firm. Likewise, it's vital to have a student forever mentality and continue to upskill ourselves with diverse things. This will definitely add value in the long run to keep in pace with time.

Operations team ensures the firm is working smoothly and everything is delivered on time without anyone having to go through a tough time. Well, what can this map to in our life? Any guesses? It strikes my mind without a second thought, I’m referring to our health and well-being. We have to understand how crucial this is, without which things can fall apart fast. A lot of folks from the current generation seem to not understand the pivotal role mental health plays. When one has a poised calm mind, it brings in plethora of creativity and create many opportunities to pursue.

Moving on to the Production team of a firm which actually produces the product/services, generating the main cash flow to the firm. Likewise, the profession we choose in our life acts as a primary source of income. We need to keep getting better at it. Looking at any major businesses which has survived for a long time, and made a huge impact, we notice that they always fund generously to run Innovation Labs to identify major opportunities with changing market trends. Also, pivot their business model to thrive, if needed. Anyone not adapting to changing market trends fail to survive - greatest example would be the camera making giant Kodak during 90s and early 2000s, which stopped innovating when market moved to digital cameras and films. Likewise, we should have our finances managed well to adequately fund newer experiences in life - travelling new places, trying new food, sports, which not just helps one rejuvenate, but also helps rediscover ourselves and make pivotal decisions in career to innovate and take risks.

There can be many more analogies which we can infer, but the major takeaway is, these departments we talked about form the foundational pillars, needs to be fundamentally strong and support each other to work well. Now the question we need to start asking ourselves is, are we ready to invest time in building each department and craft a beautiful sustainable life of our own? Are we ready to step up as the CEO of our own life and start building an enterprise out of it? Thats something we all can ponder upon to re-design our lifestyle going forward.
