Life is... And that's enough!
(Or how to acknowledge and accept that you are a genius)
There's a latent genius inside each of us. It's just that sometimes it takes someone else to show up, in order for us to recall it; in order for us to remember where and how to access the information we keep in the back of our minds or hearts.
As a backstory, I'll share with you the fact that I studied French in school - from middle school to university years. An easy math will add up 12 years of study of the mentioned language. As a foreign language enthusiast, I fell in love with the musicality of the French language, its grace and elegance. However, since English has always been my greatest love, once university years were over and all the exams passed, French was left in the back of my mind for the years to come. All my vocabulary was stored, yet seldom used. Not to mention the expressions and the fluency I used to have in speaking, writing and reading in French.
Your latent genius shows up when it's time. You need to be open to it, though.
A few years later (about 10), I was looking for a corporate job and I applied for a position that required French as a second (foreign) language. Knowing my background, although I was a bit scared of what was to come, I went for it without overthinking. When the French interview took place, my body was shaking with nervousness and I thought I would never get that job, as I was too disappointed with myself.
Nonetheless, to my surprise, two weeks later I got a phone call saying that I passed the interview and I got the job. I almost dropped the phone at hearing the news! It was simply unbelievable how someone else considered my French so good that they accepted me.
Moral of the story: We can't see our own value until someone points it out to us, as we're way too critical with self. That's what I've witnessed many times, in observing others and my own self. Each person has a unique set of skills, although general guidelines can place them into a certain box. That's why labels shouldn't be used and should never work, yet sadly they do.
Be who you are meant to be and let the Universe take care of the rest!
Should I have not signed up for that job, I would have never found out that I was still able to interact in French. But that was one of the best decisions I took back then, as it helped me improve the business/ economical vocabulary I have already gained during university years. It was a life lesson I can look back on today, as well.
We're all geniuses - we just need guidance
In saying that we're all geniuses I'm actually making a powerful statement, which I wholeheartedly believe in.
To continue with the story above, another few years went by from the moment I applied for that job and worked as a French accounts payable consultant until today. Of course, I placed the French language knowledge in the back of my mind once again. And, of course - until a few days ago, I have already lost faith into my latent genius and my power of engaging with it, once more.
But the people we need to encourage us show up exactly when the latent genius needs to emerge. And again, that's what happened for me. I connected to someone a while ago and I had no clue where he lived. But we built a strong bond, on a higher level, irrespective of the geographical area either of us was in. Thanks God and the Universe for technology!
When you're on the same level with someone, there's a lot going on. From having the feeling that you know them since forever to following certain signs, it's only for the best. Nonetheless, one can't help but asking "Why did this have to happen? Why did that person show up into my life?"
Today, my answer to these questions is that this person had to point it out for me, once again. He had to show up so that I recall the latent genius once more. I realized that the more I was thinking about speaking French, the easier words that I haven't used in ages would flow in. Of course, this is only one of the reasons why we got acquainted, as I'm sure there's much more to come - just like with all the people in our lives, if we are open to observing. Growth happens when we allow it to unfold.
How to accept that you are a genius
Most people would tell you to not overestimate yourself. However, I'm telling you to objectively assess yourself, love yourself and accept what's within. Saying is always easier than doing. Still, with practice, you can do this. You will get to a point where you understand that we are all worthy of acknowledgement, praise and acceptance. And that this worthiness should never be judged based on the color of one's eyes, skin or hair; nor should it be attributed based on cultural differences, studies, social status, sexual orientation or religious belief. Being seen for who we truly are, being loved for our souls and being considered as humans on the path of learning are rights we should all take advantage of. Just imagine that, beyond flesh and bones, we are all cosmic energy. That's what we need to work with, as fear, preconceptions or discrimination have nothing to do there.
Acknowledge your genius and share it with the world, for the good. Be who you are meant to be and let the Universe take care of the rest! Remember: life is. And that's enough!
Smile at life and life will smile right back at you!
Much love,
A.
