Carter Hospitality is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our two renowned winery resorts in Temecula, California to even higher levels of service excellence and financial performance.? ?

Carter Hospitality is a nimble family-owned LLC which operates a national portfolio of hotels, resorts, and wineries. ??Our California properties include Carter Estate Winery & Resort, and South Coast Winery Resort & Spa.?? These are located in the heart of the Temecula Valley’s exquisite wine country, surrounded by thousands of acres of rolling hillside vineyards.?? As General Manager you will help devise and implement creative business strategies, and guide, lead, and mentor a team of experienced hospitality managers.??? ?

Temecula:? Two prestigious resort hotels, the award winning Grapeseed Spa, Vineyard Rose restaurant, Vineyard Grill, wine tastings, a members only wine club, working vineyards and wine production facilities, special events, banquets, weddings, meetings, concerts, hot air balloon rides and more. ???

ABOUT YOU:

You are an accomplished leader in the hospitality industry, with years of varied experience with resort hotels and high service orientation organizations.? You have spent years cultivating your leadership skills, and are ready to take your talents to the next level.?? You have experience with F&B operations, fine dining, banquets, retail operations, spas, group business, and special events.?? You are familiar with facilities and engineering operations.? You are adept at supporting all Sales/Marketing efforts, and are always ready to serve as an ambassador for the venues.? ?

You are outgoing, with an infectious passion for hospitality, and enjoy interacting with guests.?? You love engaging with associates, and have a proven track record of developing positive workplace culture. ???You hold yourself and your team accountable, and you lead by example. ?You’re flexible and adaptable, and are a creative problem solver.? You keep abreast of industry trends, and are involved in relevant industry and management organizations.? You have excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and presentation.?? You keep executive leadership apprised of all key information and critical events.?? While you may not be a sommelier, you do enjoy fine wines and dining.?? You have a demonstrated track record of sound financial management, and understand all critical hospitality KPI’s and financial processes.?? You can develop forecasts and manage annual and monthly budgets.?? South Coast Winery Resort Hotel & Spa; Carter Estates Winery Resort


General Manager Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations for Carter Hospitality, the General Manager is responsible for the safe and effective operation of Carter Estate Winery & Resort, and South Coast Winery Resort & Spa, two adjacent properties located in Temecula, California.?

The General Manager is responsible for financial results, quality management, and overall administration and direction of the two properties. ?He/she will develop and execute strategic plans under the direction of the Vice President of Operations for Carter Hospitality.? ?The General Manager will continuously promote the culture, mission, values, and quality standards to ensure maximum potential is achieved. The General Manager is accountable for creating an exceptional climate of professionalism, safety, and service excellence that ensures the engagement of team members, guests, and members to ensure high levels of satisfaction/ratings.?

?

Minimum Qualifications, in addition to above described qualities:

Bachelor’s degree.?? Travel, Tourism, Hospitality Management, or Business emphasis preferred.?? Additional industry affiliations, training, or certifications desired.

10+ years of leadership experience in luxury or resort hospitality settings, with 200 or more guestrooms.?? This includes a minimum of 5 years as the General Manager, Assistant General Manager or Director of Operations.?? Experience in F&B operations preferred. Experience with special events desired.?

Demonstrated successes and proven track record in achieving financial goals, driving service excellence performance, actively engaging associates, and nurturing positive workplace culture.? Established history of principle-based leadership and servant-based leadership, with the highest levels of professional integrity and ethics.???

Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and presentation.? Adept with technology, MS Office tools, relevant hospitality management information systems, virtual meeting tools, related social media platforms, guest connectivity tools, and emerging hospitality technologies.? A successful history of cross-functional support in a multi-faceted corporate environment.

Proven success developing and maintaining safe/secure guest areas and work spaces, as well as effective operating and control processes designed to attain maximum operating efficiency while ensuring adherence to established operating criteria.? Ability to calmly lead in times of emergency.

Flexible work schedule to meet business needs.?? Holidays, weekends, and alternate shifts whenever needed or directed.? ?

A clean appearance and professional demeanor.?? Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English to communicate with executives, team members and guests.? Spanish language skills desired. ?Ability to stand and sit for extended periods.? ??

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Drive the overall budget, goals, and financial performance of the two properties with an emphasis on long-term sustainability and success.? ?Participate in all relevant P&L meetings and discussions. ?Facilitate the preparation of budgets and forecasts for submission and approvals.? Approve department budgets, defining and directing changes, as required. ?

Direct programs and actions to maximize revenues, profitability, increase service levels and improve associate satisfaction.?? Establish, direct, and monitor inventory controls as needed.?

Foster a workplace culture of safety/security to ensure the well-being of associates and guests.?? Comply with all federal and state OSHA related mandates, and support best practices in safety/security.?? Hold personnel accountable for adherence to company policies/procedures.?

Support all Sales/Marketing efforts.? ?Participate in all relevant meetings, and engage clients and prospective clients whenever needed.? Create a revenue focused culture, and incentivize managers to perform.? Participate in sales and marketing strategy meetings.? Participate in efforts to secure business, as needed along with a high level of involvement with the revenue management team.

Lead the Executive Committee with a collaborative style to ensure open discussion of needs and creative solutions in response.? Hold EC members accountable for overall revenues, profit, service, maintenance and team member satisfaction goals.

Lead the F&B team in a creatively collaborative style to ensure all restaurants and outlets, banquets, and catering teams provide creative, resort quality products and service levels.? Encourage continual innovation in offerings and presentation.

Accountable for guest scores.? Actively monitor guest feedback and ratings.?? Direct and lead appropriate responses and changes as needed.?? Personally address guest concerns whenever needed.?? Support guest recovery efforts as needed.?? Incentivize service excellence by all managers and associates. ??

Create a culture of accountability. Hire, supervise, coach and discipline department heads and key personnel. Foster, inspire and develop the skills and abilities of direct reports.? Conduct performance evaluations for department heads and key personnel.

Attend industry meetings and participate in industry organizations as directed or requested.

Participate in and maintain active community relations as appropriate.? Develop partnerships with local police, fire, and governmental agencies.? ??

Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks. ??Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of fluid variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist.? Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.? Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.? Ability to effectively present information to executives, clients or public groups.?


Compensation:? $165,000 -- $185,000? ?(depending on experience)? ?
