Life Science resources/database. How many?
There are many databases/resources for researchers. To quote a figure again: every year there are about 7.5 million new scientific publications (biological), and the number of scientific journals is estimated at 35,000 or more.
Many scientific publications generate data, do not they? Since we work with data in our company, TheProphetAI, owner of the platform (free for academics) www.generecommender.com, we have collected many databases on the internet. We use them, once verified, as an enrichment tool to make the proprietary Neural Network well and better.
Here is a partial result (the analysis and verification are still ongoing); we found 42,388 databases and tools (commercial and open source) related to life sciences. We used many sources:
For these > 40K resources, we have verified and continue to verify the accuracy of the data.
Looking at all the resources found (argh!), proteins are the most common bio-element to be found as "main" data (stat includes software, databases, databanks, ecc):
So, lots of data and only a few standards! A difficult task for all.
Stay tuned and subscribe to www.generecommender.com. In the next issue we will report on some nice news related to our neural network and publication!
