Life Science Cares Philadelphia Newsletter - November 2023
Morgan Berman
Executive Director at Life Science Cares / Community leader focused on equitable and measurable impact
As the leaves turn and the air grows crisp, we are reminded of the profound changes each season brings. November, a time of reflection and gratitude, offers us a moment to pause and appreciate the collective efforts and generosity that have fueled our mission throughout the year. In this season of thanks, we are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of our community, whose dedication has been the cornerstone of our progress and impact.
As we approach the end of the year, we are excited to announce a special opportunity that can amplify the impact of your support. Many companies offer donation matching programs, and this could be your chance to double the value of your gift at no extra cost to you. We encourage you to search for your company's matching gift policies and consider appealing to them to match your donation. Your contributions are vital to our continued success, and with your company's match, we can reach even greater heights together.
This year has been a testament to the power of collective action. We are proud to share that we have created up to 20 job opportunities for those in need, with an ambitious goal of placing 30 students in life-changing positions by 2024. These opportunities are more than just jobs; they are stepping stones to a brighter future, providing invaluable experience and opening doors to new possibilities.
The spirit of giving is alive and well this holiday season, and we are thrilled to launch our Holiday Helpers initiative. This program is a chance for you to make a direct and meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve. We invite you to join us in this endeavor; please read below for details.
In the midst of our gratitude for the blessings in our lives, let's also take a moment to reflect on the global challenges we face. Recent conflicts in places like Israel and Gaza serve as a stark reminder of the urgent need for peace and understanding. While I give thanks for my family's safety this year, I am keenly aware that many families, both abroad and in our own Philadelphia community, do not feel safe and lack the basic necessities of life.
As we gather with loved ones, let us remember the strength we have when we come together for a common cause. Your support has been instrumental in our journey to disrupt the cycle of poverty and inequality, and we are deeply thankful for every contribution, big or small.
Wishing you a warm and reflective Thanksgiving,
Morgan Berman,
Executive Director of LSC PHL
