A Life Saving Pledge
Our Character GPS Students were given the opportunity to sign a pledge this week and were given our Character GPS Challenge Coin if they signed. All but one student signed and received their GPS Challenge Coin! This is potentially a life saving pledge! This is the very first time we have implemented the use of it and...well, here it is:
We are so proud of the students who did sign and took this seriously!
This pledge wasn't presented at the beginning of the class but at the end of the class after we did our best to make the case for living drug and alcohol free lives! As I stated in an earlier newsletter, we knew we had to ramp up, revise and update our teaching on the topic of addiction. The number one place students buy drugs are the schools! This is a fact that we have gotten right from the source and so what do we do? Do we ignore this? Not at Character GPS! We step it up, give updated information and present compelling evidence to accept this challenge for clean living! We want our students to thrive and stay alive!
We want our GPS Students to THRIVE and stay ALIVE!
Our dear friend Derrick offered to record his personal life testimony for our students! Click on this link:
We showed this in each class which did make our class longer but we were proud of how our students patiently watched and listened intently. This was a new element and if you have a few minutes please watch!
Here are some of the slides presented:
Here is a link to one of our classes this past week:
Jeff and I live a drug and alcohol-free life together and we are positive that this makes quite an impression on our young students! Jeff's family never had alcohol in his home and he just never drank! Quite amazing that at 63 he can say that! He has quite a powerful testimony! My testimony is that there were times in my life that, although I never took drugs, I did let alcohol become too important in my life and so 10 years ago, before meeting Jeff, I just decided I do NOT need this in my life anymore! It adds nothing to my life at all!
Well, then guess what, I met Jeff! I gave up alcohol and then met the man I was going to marry! I gave up a bad habit and my heart knows that God rewarded me for that decision. The decision actually wasn't hard, it was like one day I just woke up and said that's it, I am done with it and just stopped completely, never to taste it again! I think they call that a "moment of clarity"!

A Moment of Clarity
I had a neighbor who died in her twenties because of addictions! Choosing to live a clean life can not only save your own life but you could inspire someone else to change their ways! You could be their hero!
Maybe you would consider taking this pledge along with us and our students or passing it along to someone else to read and consider?
Would You Consider Taking the Challenge With Us?
Pssst...Pass It On...Clean Living is Good Living
Hopefully this has been inspiring, maybe enlightening and if you are a parent, please talk to your children about this topic, don't wait! Kids as young as 4th grade have been taken to the emergency room because of shared edibles brought into the elementary school from home! 6th graders were bringing edibles into a nearby middle school and sharing them with friends. Drugs are being sold in bathrooms, hallways and buses. Don't let your guard down! Don't be afraid to talk to your kids!
