Life by Powerpoint
You might have heard the term "Death by PowerPoint" in recent years which makes people see the tool as:
But for most business leaders, it's a part of our every day lives. Since we use it regularly, shouldn't we find things to celebrate about it?
I think I've found something!
Celebrating PowerPoint
My friend Matt Barraclough and I were talking about doing a YouTube channel together—as a fun hobby (because me and Matt both have a passion for talking about entertainment and communication media, and we've experiemented with many channel ideas over the years!).
But while I was sending him disorganised text messages and phone calls, he sent me a single PowerPoint presention. It was awesome! All the ideas that we were discussing came shining through like a light.
What I learned from Matt is the impact of a well designed and well presented deck on its idea. Like I said, we have been talking about this for several years. Expressing the single "idea" in a pitch deck might finally be the spark that moves us to action!
By the way, there is a reason Matt did this. He is a business leader running a highly regarded and successful company in the Television production industry in the UK.
Noticing the obvious thing number fifteen:
Successful people know how to communicate; and slide presentations still work!*
*if designed well.
