A Life of Plenty
Incidentals
On my way to a word
in the dictionary,
I found another
and another.
How life in whole
is like this.
We went to dinner
in Port Crouesty in Brittany
and as we sipped our drinks
on this Bastille Day,
we watched showers
come in and out—
the flights and fancies
of nature—
oh, so gentle
on this occasion.
Then, instead of
canceled fireworks,
came rainbows—
four of them
in slow succession—
equaling, at least, all
I had seen in my lifetime.
He might have said
think not of the morrow,
sufficient unto the day
is the plenty thereof.
