Life Perspective

The beautiful thing about LIFE is that you customize it. It’s YOUR race to run. One thing I commonly see is people compare their current life to other people’s highlight reel. What I’ve learned is you need to take that with a grain of salt. People don’t want you to see the behind the scenes and the hard times they face. Let me tell you, no one’s life is perfect or sunshine and rainbows. If you feel like you are missing out, take a breath and know your time is coming.

I am a young professional, 26 years of age. I do not own a house, I do not have fancy cars, I do not have the latest and greatest phone (My phone is almost 4 years old), I don’t have the flashiest apartment, I don’t have the highest paying job. I list all these things, because your life shouldn’t be the same as mine. I have friends who own homes, have nicer cars than me, the newest phone, etc. But I don’t let that get to me. What they don’t tell you or want you to know is how much DEBT they are carrying. I am 100% debt free other than my wife’s student loans once she graduates, as we have a plan in place to pay them off in less than 3 years.

Zoom out, think about your long term vision for your life. What do you ideally see yourself doing 10, 20, 50 years from now. Idk about you, but I’d love to be out on the lakes, golfing every week, hanging with friends and family, BUT most importantly I want to be helping others achieve the lifestyle they want to live long term. It’s very hard thinking long term, especially coming out of college. Starting your career is exciting, and you feel like you’re making bank! (I thought this same way). After maturing a bit, and getting around people who had the lifestyle I described above, but the fact that they are only in their 30’s blew my mind. When you think about your long term aspirations, I encourage you to find people who HAVE that lifestyle, not just talk about it. “You are the average of your five closets friends.”

Things to understand:

-You are not in a race against anyone else other than yourself.

-People will deter you, sometimes unintentionally if you do something out of the norm.

-You are right where you are supposed to be, don’t rush it.

-Who you associate with, greatly affects the lifestyle you will have long term.

-Be grateful for what you DO have, instead of complaining about the things you don’t have

-Speak your goals into the universe. This trains your subconscious mind and gravitates your goals to you.

-Don’t fake results that you DON’T have yet.

-Care for others. Relationships are way more important that material items. You don’t need to “impress” anyone.

-Don’t take things personally. People speak out of their own insecurities.

-Believe in yourself more than anyone else believes in you.

-Identify your “WHY”.

-Don’t get hung up on the PATH. If something is going to give you the lifestyle you want long term, does the path really matter?

-You aren’t going to enjoy everything you have to do.

-Learn to have DELAYED Gratification. I see too many people buy things they can’t afford, because they WANT it now. LEARN TO HAVE PATIENCE.

-Be open to accepting HELP

-Help others along their journey. There’s nothing sweeter than seeing someone success through the help of your guidance.

-Encourage others to do things that make them uncomfortable. 

-Don’t let FEAR be greater than the results that could come by taking a risk.

I could go on and on about the things I’ve learned personally or seen first hand from successful individuals. 

I want to talk about one last concept, and that is CONSISTENCY. This word is one of the hardest things to ACT on. Consistency over a period of time creates results. What people misconstrued of this is they think they should only have to be consistent for 1-6 months and be successful. NO, NO, NO, NO! You need to be in the hunt for minimum 2-6 YEARS to create results. Social media has misconstrued this concept, since everything else we do is at our fingertips. We have same day shipping, instant messaging, instant downloads, etc. The concept of SUCCESS hasn’t changed. Ever hear of “The 10 year overnight success”? That means 10 years behind the scenes, grinding, and believing in the unseen and finally year 10 it just seems like you made it big time just like that. Amazon was founded in 1994, but it didn’t become big until years later. 

Understand that your success might take longer than someone else’s. You have to realize Day Traders, Real Estate investors, Drop shippers, and any other business model, etc. DO NOT and DID NOT get rich or wealthy overnight. Yes, you can make a lot of money...But it takes years and years to create. IF ANYONE TELLS YOU THAT YOU CAN GET RICH QUICK, DO NOT BELIEVE THEM (Unless they won the lottery ;)). Wealth takes a lot of time to develop. If you are in your 20’s reading this, in your 30’s, KNOW THAT YOU HAVE A LOT OF TIME LEFT IN YOUR LIFE. Anyone can take a picture in front of a car that isn’t there’s, a house that isn’t there’s, etc. take things with a grain of salt and check the credibility of the individual telling you “You can make a lot of money fast”.

I am currently in the trenches (I know a lot of you are in there along side me), I am not wealthy (yet), but I know wealthy people, I’m beyond fortunate to be learning from those who’ve already walked the walk. I love that they are raw with me and don’t sugar coat what it’s going to take to achieve what they have. I’d rather learn from those who tell me what I NEED to hear, that tell me what I WANT to hear. Believe me that you won’t achieve every goal you set out, you won’t make the right choices you need to each time, things will get hard, but remember, THAT’S OKAY. If you never quit and have a positive attitude, you WILL SUCCEED.

I encourage you all to deeply think about where you’re at right now, where you want to go long term, (It may not be in the career you’re currently in, mine wasn’t), and think about the most realistic path you have to get there. I recommend you finding someone or a group of people who can help you get there, and help others once you’re there as well. Don’t be ashamed of what you want to achieve, embrace the journey, and see the results come to fruition.
