What's going on in L&P in Ireland?

This weeks article outlines some key changes to look out for next month in the 2025 Budget. 8 Key Changes are discussed in the article which have been summarized below.

• Inheritance tax: The threshold for inheritance from parents may rise from €335,000 to €400,000, reflecting the surge in property prices.
• Rent tax credit: This credit, aimed at tenants, may increase from €750 to €1,000.
• Energy credit: Another energy credit will be paid in Q4 2024, though the government may scale back future subsidies.
• Tax bands: The government is likely to raise the threshold for the 40% tax rate to accommodate wage growth, with potential increases in tax credits as well.
• USC reduction: A package to reduce Universal Social Charge rates is expected, continuing from last year’s cuts.
• Minimum wage: The Low Wage Commission recommended an increase to €13.70, but this decision is not yet confirmed.
• Social welfare: A €12 weekly increase is likely for pensioners, carers, and disabled individuals, alongside a possible double Child Payment before Christmas.
• Help to Buy scheme: Expansion of the scheme is under review, potentially raising the property value cap and offering tax credits for rent payments.

The aim of Dogs Trust Ireland is to give stray and abandoned dogs a second chance at a brighter future with responsible, caring new owners. Since opening their Rehoming Centre in 2009, they have rescued and rehomed over 22,000 dogs. They rely on public support to fund their work and they are entirely reliant on the generosity of amazing people to continue our life-saving work. Every single donation raised provides each dog that comes into their care with nutritious food, veterinary treatment, a microchip, vaccinations and most importantly, love and cuddles from their canine carers and a forever home.
