Life need not be a struggle
To many people, happiness depends on everything being just right? And if you think you can’t be happy until all your circumstances are right, you’ll inevitably never be happy. We all experience times when we feel down, yet we can’t allow circumstances to control our emotions.
Life can be an awkward thing. We all experience times of frustration, and generally over one or more of our unfulfilled hopes and dreams. But then, when things don’t go right, it’s normal to feel disappointment.
We must be careful how we deal with our feelings. If we feel disappointment for too long, it can turn into discouragement, then despair, and finally depression. Psalm 30:5 tells us, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning”. We all have times of sadness, but we mustn’t stay that way.
Just as we can’t afford to stay mad for very long, we can’t stay sad for long. If we do, we’ll simply multiply that which already concern us. Then the more we fill our minds with negative thoughts, the more our emotions will drag us down.
Another thing is, staying disappointed can quickly cause you to feel discouraged – and that’s a bigger problem than disappointment. Besides, long-term discouragement can lead to even more serious problems.
You simply can’t be hopeful and discouraged at the same time.
The real issue is a spiritual one. And the truth is, not one negative thought, deed or action can emanate from the throne of God. Negativity is the one weapon the devil uses against us all. That’s why God has given us the ability to exercise self-control.
James 4:7 tells us to, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from us.” Philippians 4:4 says, “Rejoice in the Lord and again I say, Rejoice!” And that’s a good thing, because the devil cannot stand you rejoicing in God, and God’s solution over your circumstances.
Rejoicing will work for you even if you aren’t a Christian. Just try it. Thank God for the victory and for the solution – then see how you change within yourself. Go on, Rejoice. Do it for a minute or two. Now claim God’s victory and experience the peace.
Our Lord Jesus can help anyone overcome the demonic in our lives, but He won’t do it until you ask Him to. And one last thing, always remember to thank Him for what He has done.
