Life in Lockdown

Change often comes about in the strangest of circumstances, and more than often when we don't actively seek it.
We have adapted in a way we never thought we could. The COVID-19 outbreak has ignited one of the biggest and most fundamental shifts in business operations, certainly that I've ever seen in my lifetime.
I've learnt a lot about myself during these last six weeks of lockdown and I think it's safe to say that most businesses across the world have had similar insight when it comes to how they operate, communicate and adapt at a time of crisis. We have learnt new habits, skills and processes that will shape the way we operate as businesses moving forward. Things that we can't unlearn, even if we wanted to.
Businesses and employees everywhere are working remotely, meetings and conferences are being held virtually, and thanks to modern technology we can now do just about anything from the comfort of our own homes.
Things will never be the way they were before... and to be honest, I think that's probably a good thing. Afterall, progress is impossible without change.
#KeepBritainWorking was co-founded by James Reed, Chairman and CEO of REED, to bring the nation together during the COVID-19 crisis. The objective of this campaign is simple - to preserve jobs and to protect livelihoods.
By creating a platform for businesses to share ideas, inspire each other, and work together as a community, the #KeepBritainWorking campaign aims to unite the country and 'Keep Britain Working' during this time of crisis.
We’re living through a national emergency, where a significant number of the workforce have already been affected and many more are facing anxious days and weeks ahead. #KeepBritainWorking aims to build a movement of positivity to help share, connect and inspire employers, workers and the country.
Over the next few weeks, I’m going to be talking to clients, candidates, colleagues and connections to hear how they have adapted during the COVID-19 crisis (in both their work and personal lives) and find out what learns they will take away from this experience, for when we all eventually move back to 'normality'!
I will post the content on here each week and hopefully we will all be able to share some positivity and good news!
Next week I'll be talking to Luke McGrath, Head of Marketing at True Potential LLP, to find out how the firm has responded to the Coronavirus outbreak and how he has adapted to lockdown life.
