What is AI in digital age?
AI and digital transformation are changing how businesses operate by improving productivity, efficiency, decision-making and customer experiences. Key strategies include embracing AI, using data effectively, adopting cloud technology, investing in employee skills, fostering innovation and so much more.
The question of life's meaning has plagued philosophers and poets for centuries.
From the ancient Greeks to modern-day thinkers, we've grappled with the fundamental question: What is the purpose of our existence?
There's no single answer, of course.
The concept of life, with its rich tapestry of interpretations, indeed varies across cultures, philosophies, and now, with technological advancements, is expanding into new realms. In the age of AI, the idea of creating digital AI clones that encapsulate one's knowledge, memories, and experiences introduces a fascinating evolution of life concepts. It raises questions about identity, continuity, and what it means to exist. Could these digital clones represent a form of life? It's a compelling idea, suggesting a blend of biological and digital existence, offering an alternative perspective on immortality. It's a rich field for exploration, blending philosophy, technology, and human experience.
Our understanding of life is shaped by our individual experiences, cultural backgrounds, and personal beliefs. A scientist might seek it in unraveling the mysteries of the universe, while I just want to find out the possibilities of extending life in the digital age.
What happens when we introduce AI into the equation?
This blend of the biological and digital could lead to a new form of legacy, where our digital clones continue to interact, learn, and even evolve after our physical selves are gone. It challenges traditional notions of life and death, suggesting a form of digital immortality. However, it also raises ethical and philosophical questions. What rights would these digital entities have? How would they impact our social structures and personal relationships? The concept of life, therefore, could expand to include not just biological existence but also a form of digital continuity, reshaping our understanding of identity, legacy, and what it means to be "alive."
As technology continues to advance at an unprecedented pace, we're faced with new challenges and opportunities. Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing our world, blurring the lines between human and machine.
So, in this age of AI, what does it mean to be alive? Is life simply a complex algorithm, a series of inputs and outputs? Or is there something more, something that transcends our understanding of logic and computation?
Perhaps the answer lies not in a single definition, but in a spectrum of perspectives.
AI can't replicate the human experience, the joy of love, the pain of loss, the beauty of a sunset, or the wonder of a child's laughter.
Today, I want to share about hermeneutics.
Hermeneutics is the theory and methodology of interpretation, especially the interpretation of texts. It's about understanding the meaning of something, whether it's a written text, a piece of art, a social phenomenon, or even a personal experience with a robot.
Here's a breakdown of key concepts:
This central concept suggests that understanding is a cyclical process.
We start with a preliminary understanding, which then informs our further interpretation, leading to a deeper understanding, and so on. It's a continuous process of back-and-forth engagement with the text or phenomenon.
Examples of Hermeneutics in practice:

Here's how the Hermeneutic Circle relates to AI experiments and social interactions between humans and AI:

Hermeneutics, the study of interpretation, seeks to answer these questions. It explores the process of understanding meaning, the factors that influence our interpretations, and the criteria for evaluating different interpretations. It is a powerful tool for understanding the world around us, helping us to delve deeper into the meanings of texts, phenomena, and even our own lives.
Maybe the meaning of life isn't something we can define, but something we create through our actions, our relationships, and our experiences, with human, AI and robotics. Maybe it's about finding joy in the simple things, making a difference in the world, and leaving behind a legacy that inspires others.
As AI continues to evolve, it's crucial that we don't lose sight of what makes us human.
We need to embrace technology, but not let it define us.
We need to remember that life is more than just data and algorithms. It's about connection, compassion, and the pursuit of meaning in a world that is constantly changing.

I do not endorse such ‘afterlife’ fantasies. I have seen companies using such technology to promote the concept of closure when a kid died of cancer at an age that is too young, or a person who died in an accident. My point is this is going to have the ‘dead person’ die multiple times, which goes against the objective of closure as it prolongs pain. It goes against the reality and nature of life and if one is religious, the will of the higher powers. We are afterall, not Tomaguchi. We have seen the calamity when humans tried to play god.

2 周What is going to be very interesting and unnoticed, is that while debate and discourse is going on AI will be integrating completely unnoticed outside the occasional propaganda reporting by the news media... The era of spirit has arrived and its unseen, in a material world still talking about material things of yesterday...
