Life Lessons!
The demise of our dearest Irrfan Khan Sir & Rishi Kapoor Sir is a personal loss for everyone who has admired great cinema. Through their movies & acting, legend Irrfan Khan & Rishi Kapoor not only entertained us but also gave us powerful lessons and inspired us to lead a meaningful life.
Really beautiful and meaningful dialogues delivered by them:
“Jaane se pehle, ek aakhri baar milna kyun zaroori hota hai?” - Love Aaj Kal
“The key to a happy life is to accept you are never actually in control.” (Jurassic World, 2015)
It sounds simple right?
Then why aren’t we happy?
Because what looks easy is often difficult to apply in real life. We want happiness to fill a void in our lives, but we don’t want the struggle and difficulties that go with it. Yet the pain and struggle serve as a reminder to stop influencing circumstances beyond our control. It is our thinking that gets in the way of achieving happiness, not having a bank account full of money, fancy cars or luxury homes. While these are good things to have, they wear off after a while and are meaningless if you cannot find peace and contentment within.
Life is uncertain!
Have you ever noticed when you find peace & happiness?
When you play with a toddler.
That innocent smile vanishes all your worries in a fraction of seconds. Children are incredibly curious. Everything is new to them, so naturally it has to be explored. They have to explore every aspect of something new, no matter if it’s chalk, the sound a bell makes, or what ice cream tastes like. Their entire day is one big exploration of life.
As an adult I get set in my ways; don’t you? We are so content in our ways we forget about new ideas, new perspectives, and new ways of doing things.
When was the last time you took a new route to work, tried a different restaurant, jumped in a pool, or danced? Happiness is in the joy of the moment, and there is no greater way to create joyful moments than to explore new things. Explore above, below, and under everything.
Meeting your grandparents.
You are their happiness...
Their love is inviting you over for lunch and giving you enough food to feed an army.
Their love is standing at the front door watching you cross the street so you don't get hit by a car even though you're 18 now.
Their love is being the arbitrary ears to listen and shoulders to cry on when your parents are fighting and you're stuck in the middle.
Their love is hard work, making sure the whole family is doing okay.
Their love is sending around some sweet dish they made with you in mind.
Their love is being your therapists when you're stressed about exams and family problems.
You are lucky enough if you still have grandparents, never miss a single opportunity to jump into their place, hug them, spend time with them...they are precious and the ones who will love you endlessly.
Chit-Chat & Hanging out with friends.
Well nothing can be a better option than hanging out with friends. It can be the best break from the monotony of life. For one can be certain that it is going to be absolutely amusing and unlimited fun, for the talks seem to go on forever and any silly topic can become a point of lengthy discussions and a topic to give a good laugh at. Be it the latest trend in jewellery or fashion, the latest gadgets in town, some old classic movies, the cute crush, work related pressures, the list is never ending one.
That fight, love & fun with your siblings.
Unlike foreign countries, living in a household of more than four members is a common thing in India. Growing up with siblings, cousins and relatives make our childhood more memorable than clubbing and socializing in adulthood. Picking a slingshot and shooting down the raw mangoes, making paper boats and racing them down the stream or puddles, running after a rubber tire pretending it was a vehicle etc. are some of the nostalgic memories that each of us cherishes.
Growing up with siblings is a herculean task. Picking up fights for trivial things and topics like T.V. remote or which channel to watch or which side of the bed to sleep or who is adopted and was brought home from dustbin or who is the favorite of dad or mom etc. We all have fought for these things and on these topics.
Spending time with love of your life.
It's natural. When you find the one you love, chemicals start flowing through your body, creating a happy sensation. Resulting in you wanting to spend much more time with him/her. It’s simple. You value your love more than anything else in the world. Love of your life makes you feel complete and calm.
Making your parents proud.
Have you ever noticed that they used to express much more excitement and love when you were at high school. Let’s say when you won a debate competition or cricket match...you came running back to home shouting “I won 1st prize”. And there your mom starts preparing your favorite dish and your dad gives you some extra pocket money in excitement.
Now you must be having a doubt, why aren’t we getting that attention which we used to get in our younger days? We are achieving much more in life than we used to do before? Because now we are not satisfied and our family can read us, they read our face and know whether we are happy or not.
Be open to share your feelings with your loved one’s. Don’t step back, follow your passion. Treat your parents as your friends and in return they will get to understand you in a much better way.
Let’s just not survive...Let’s live it fully...Let’s do what we love to do.
Don’t have any regrets..Want to apologize to someone for the mistake you did?..Not ready for something and fear to say “NO”?..Love someone and hesitate to tell him/her?...Want to follow your dreams?
Go ahead and do it..Now is the time!
