Life as a Junior Software Product Analyst with James Jones
Our Software Product Analyst Team are currently looking for fresh talent to join them in order to support their continued growth. ?But what exactly is it that a Software Product Analyst does? We caught up with James Jones, one of our Junior Analysts to find out more about his role and team.
Tell us a bit about your role?
My role at bet365 consists of a wide variety of tasks, mostly relating to the maintaining and updating of the games available to customers across the gaming websites and apps. This covers an ever-increasing number of countries, each with their own regulations. I have to communicate with many different sectors of the business to reach collective goals and ensure that bet365 is giving the user the best experience possible.
?There are a number of internally developed tools that we work on. Admin Manager is a an application that allows our team to control what displays on the websites, which we can do in granular detail where necessary. We also use third party software, such as Jira, which is used to manage the workload of the department and is used widely across the technology side of the business as a whole.
What training did you receive?
My training for the role consisted of mostly on the job training with my Manager and my more experienced colleagues. Instead of a strict training plan, we solved problems as they came up and that way I was able to improve my skills faster, as each day I was constantly getting hands on experience and building relationships with my co-workers and other teams.
I like how my team all shares a genuine enthusiasm for Gaming, and providing a high quality product for the customers. All of them have been helpful in my development and the general feeling of all of us working towards a collective goal everyday increases motivation.

What is the biggest challenge in the role?
?The most challenging part of the role is the technical aspect for me. There is always more to learn when it comes to the workings of our internal systems and learning it all will take a while, but it comes with experience. That being said, there are senior members of my team who have been in the business a while, and are more than happy to take the time to show you how and why things work.
How about your biggest achievement??
My biggest achievement in the role would be the Push Gaming Project launch. Recently I have started getting involved in projects as my experience has grown, and with the teams help, I successfully launched a new gaming provider, Push Gaming, in 3 countries. I was happy with my performance as it was deployed successfully, with no issues.
Would you recommend the role to someone looking to start their career in tech?
?I would; We are a fairly small team, so being proactive, coachable and hard-working will make a real positive impact in what are able to accomplish. In return for this, you are well rewarded with many perks, benefits and other incentives.
My tips for somebody applying would be show off your personality and interests. As we are a company built around sports and gaming, showing genuine interest in either will help you fit in with the company culture. However, anything that separates you as an individual is great, and will go a long way to showing off your character and making you stand out from the rest.
