Life at Joveo - Of Rumble & Humbling!
As I near my two-year work anniversary here at Joveo - I pause, reflect, and cherish today for an amazing journey and am beyond excited about the future forward, Joveo holds for itself, it's incredible team, and its forever growing clientele and the industry it caters to as one of the top market leader.
Here are my top four takeaways looking back over the two years and what I think makes Joveo such a wonderful workplace
1. The Team, The Talent & The Culture!
It's almost given and granted now - Good teams and great talent, make great companies. But a good, open, positive, and collaborative work culture drives good teams and great talent.
I have had the privilege to hire and work with some of the smartest team members in my team, who I'm humbled to lead, and the cross-functional teams across Joveo - my team and I cherish working with them.
One of our cultural values - 'Succeed as One Team' is taken too seriously to the heart and it's often when we hit any principled conflict or confrontation, we're reminded of this for a solution.
"Culture is so incredibly important because it is the foundation for all future innovation. People with passion can change the world." - Brian Chesky
2. Letting Leaders Lead & Encouraging To Experiment - i.e. Fail Fast, Learn Faster!
Joveo is a launchpad for future leaders. If you ever happened to interact with some of the most tenured employees - you will likely be mind-blown by how people with absolutely humble backgrounds were put on a pedestal to now lead large-scale projects and have grown in title purely based on meritocracy.
Every day is a learning experience and the overall culture encourages team members to experiment with new ideas and succeed through experimentation and failure - which is a big bold bet that the leadership here takes on their people that is richly rewarding.
The above is a message from one of our ex-team members, a Joveo champion Febin Varghese - who interned at Joveo, converted to Full-time through amazing work, and did wonders during his stint here. Joveo was absolutely cherished when he had new opportunities knocking at his doors and it's beyond incredible to see him crush at his new workplace building over the learnings and leadership skills he honed here at Joveo.

3. Be Absolutely Committed to Customer Success - at ANY cost, at ANY time.
This is our first and foremost cultural value. Our clients are paramount and the customer success team led by Vinod Radhakrishnan are some of the fiercest advocates and soldiers of customer happiness I've ever come across. It's incredible to note everything here at Joveo from business, product, and Engineering is designed and centered around customers, their happiness, and their sentiments. There is no winning strategy like #CustomerObsession.
4. Grounded Leadership - Mentors Not Managers or Bosses!
If there is something that makes Joveo exceptional and surprising for new team members - it is the level of leadership team involvement in grassroots problem-solving. It is astounding how the executive team members have 360 perspectives from as low as 1,000 ft to as high as 30,000ft. To come across leaders who are ready to get their hands dirty and work with you shoulder-to-shoulder without an ounce of entitlement is truly humbling and empowering.
Kshitij Jain is special to all of us. All that is needed is once in the quarter you find 45 mins of time with him alongside a whiteboard - and 'Voila' you have a mission, a purpose to run and execute for the next 6 months. It's a double booster if you have our COO - Vikrant Rohatgi along in the room - his expertise and background when he starts speaking, can literally fill the room with infectious energy.
Or whenever I'm blocked - a quick brainstorming with Shehzad Karkhanawala (VP, Marketing) or Ashay Agrawal (Group Product Manager) - my two mentors here, opens doors and windows of perspective at so many levels - you will have a highly logical and pragmatic idea flying from all directions.
For many mid-senior executives, learning plateaus after a point in an organization - but that hasn't been the case for me. You could just watch, speak, and listen to Prateek Mishra (Our VP, of Engineering) or Ankur Goel (Head Of Product) in action - on how to solve and scale problems through first principles and a product-first approach.
And Sanjay Chandel (Head of People) - it's magic how he and his team are the guardians of culture and talent here at Joveo. They have made HR as a function fully accessible and of high empathy. As a people manager - I cannot appreciate and affirm how important it is to have a competent HR Business partner, without whom everything fails.
When you work with tall leaders, you have the rare elevated opportunity of seeing and experience the world, sitting through their shoulders.
I'm truly humbled and grateful for having the privilege to work with some of the smartest team members who are de facto leaders of tomorrow, leaders who inspire, and the opportunity to create impact. It's a blessing to do work you also love and cherish.

1 年Very thoughtfully written, Vignesh D. But it is people like you who make the culture at Joveo; not the other way round. Keep it up!
