"A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives." Jackie Robinson

Jackie Robinson was great man and an example for others to emulate. This quote is on his tombstone and is an inspiring mantra for me. I am scared and excited about biking 615 miles between June 1-7, 2019.  However, when I think about the impact I can have on my students, family, friends and colleagues, my energy and motivation are restored. It reinforces my belief that I am on the right track.

It is my hope to influence others’ lives. The money raised to support the work of the Underground Railroad Freedom Center, The Freedom Rides Museum, and UD’s Institute of Applied Creativity and Transformation (IACT), will do just that. I know my efforts will expand the mission of these organizations to educate and influence generations today and moving forward.

The sad fact is that if you look up the word legacy, it does not talk about the impact on others. In the dictionary, legacy is defined as the amount of money or property left to someone in a will. I choose to define it differently, so I am trying to live my life by doing right by others.
