‘The Art of Happiness’, life is great, I've found happiness and love, I'm writing my future now...."

The Lock & Quay pub in Bootle is delighted to be unveiling ‘The Art of Happiness’ collage exhibition, showcasing the latest series of works from Liverpool's Premier collage artist Philip Hayes.

Philip began making collages around 2004, whilst going through a really tough time and struggling with his mental health, he took comfort in getting creative and drawing on the wealth of material he amassed during the 25 years he worked as venue manager for The Picket, a band manger, singer, a festival organiser and currently co-ordinating the Good Samaritans Album, "Down on the Bottom", something which is very dear to Philip. He is passionate about erasing the stigma associated with mental health, having experienced two breakdowns and spent six months in mental health clinic.

• Philip's collages are amazing and feature icons such as John Lennon, The Cavern Club-see above, Cream- see below Philip with John Kelly legendary CREAM DJ, and LFC/Hillsborough.

Philip has made collages for Liverpool bands Cast, the Farm, Liquidation Night club, the Threshold Festival, The Cavern club and most recently The Epstein theatre.

Philip is now happy, healthy and has a wealth of stories to tell both through his artwork and in person – come along, have a pint and take a look, PLEASE buy some!
