Life is Giving - Lessons from a mother

All of my life I never seen my mother empty handed. She always has something in her hand for someone.

Early mornings when going for yoga she has bread and milk to feed the stray dogs near the house.

Afternoons she will open her door to the maids of the nearby homes to serve them whatever she has cooked.

When I come home ofcourse she will make my favourite meals but also pack a few small snacks to take back to my wife, sister and friends. 

She will give Rs.500 ( 10$) per month to pay the school fee of a neighbour’s maid’s daughter to keep the girl in school.

She will go to charity functions and donate small amounts every week.

 He purse is always full of candies and sweets to be passed onto whoever she meets – kids, adults or the elderly.

 She gives a patient hearing to those in trouble, sometimes she can help them and sometimes she cannot.

 She has rescued stray animals and made them come home, live with us and feed them like family members.

 She sends small amounts of money as a monthly stipend to girls in a blind school helping them further their education.

 She will always go to our relatives homes with small gifts or cakes that she has made herself.

 Her whats app messages are full of hope and optimism. Always.

 She is not rich, doesn’t even have a job. Just some income from interest on deposits and what I give her. However her generosity is infinite.

 When I asked her about this she said one memorable lesson that she has learnt in her life.

 Life is about giving.

Give and experience and the joy.

There is no joy in taking.

For a joyful life experience giving.

May she live a long happy and giving life. This is her greatest lesson for me.
