Life = Gifts. Contentedness

Enjoying being in your own skin – it’s a neat concept.

Being happy with being yourself in any situation. Deciding to love yourself through all of it. These days I have been going through an air of contentment.

I can’t say it is true joy or happiness, but it is close. Content. Being content with however the rest of this life plays out. Finding joy in my process and knowing that it all works out.

I could probably mention my higher power here but that is just another part of it. I’ve looked back at my life and, yes, it has been a unique ride for me. As I approach my 52nd year on the planet, I must say that earth and the beings on it continue to surprise me in some crucially amazing ways.

It’s amusing that I don’t know where the contentedness came from. I was navel gazing one afternoon and simply developed a love for people. I was navel gazing one evening and simply appreciated the planet and existence in all its parts. The ride I’ve been on has been a difficult learning curve for most all of my adult life.

I started seeing whatever comes my way as a form of entertainment. I may not like certain points of said entertainment but if I’m still going to be around, I am certain that I will try my hardest to enjoy it.

I have this “resting serious face.” I look like I have something weighing on me most of the time, even when I’m content. I think it’s because I have (even as a hack comedian) been through a huge amount of trying times.

These days, though, I see things through the eyes of contentedness. And I’m gonna stay there. Forever following the guidelines of a joyful life – and spreading it around as well.

Sharing the wealth of smiles, humour, laughter and “hakuna matata.” It can always go the other way, too. But waking up the other day, I viewed the world and its days as a gift – and a gift it truly is.
