I don’t usually post this kind of content, but I couldn’t resist sharing this one here. For a long time, the podcast “My Life Story” by Iman Khorraminejad kept popping up on my Instagram feed. Since it featured stories of inspiring and successful Iranians around the world—some of whom I had seen from afar—I’d usually save the episodes to listen to later.

Today, on my way to university, I finally decided to give it a go and randomly played an episode in my Snap ride. It was truly fascinating!

The episode I listened to was Episode 89, featuring Mr. Ali Ajam (for those interested, you can check it out in full). A really interesting concept was discussed in this episode: life as a poker game.

The analogy goes like this: when you're born, it's as if you're dealt a completely random hand at the poker table. You have no choice but to play with the cards you've been given. And what's the goal? To win the game—no matter what!

Your hand might be great, or it might be terrible. You might be born into a wealthy family in the U.S., or you might come from a modest or underprivileged family in a small town in Iran. Does the goal change? No. You still have to win. Can you ask for a new hand? No. You’re stuck with this one unless you win and move on to the next game.

If everyone had a great hand, winning wouldn’t mean much. The game of poker wouldn’t even exist, nor would its competitions. But the player who wins with a bad hand? That’s the one who always has the best story to tell.

I know I want to win this game—with the cards I have!

Overall, it was a fantastic podcast, and I definitely recommend it to you.

Thank you for reading this far! ?????
