Letter to myself #1 during #covid19

As the COVID-19 pandemic tears across the world, people fall sick and die. Communities and entire nations are living in fear of a silent assassin, for which there is no remedy but only a preventive safeguard – social distancing.

Everything around us is changing, and changing fast. We’ve learned who our key workers are, how tirelessly and selflessly they work on the frontline to save lives, or restack our shelves. Their unflinching courage in the eye of the storm has inspired millions of us – and yet how many of us truly valued their services before this pandemic?

But everything must change ... I hope!

Lying awake at night, I can't help but wonder what the future holds in store for my loved ones and beyond … because the #newnormal is yet to come. And the new normal largely depends on each and every one of us – from the governments we choose to how compassionate we are towards each other. One of the lessons learned from this pandemic is that we, human beings, cannot subsist without one another. The weak on the strong, the old on the young, and all of humanity depends on a natural environment we have abused in a reckless manner.

So, it’s time to change ... this can be done.

It is too soon to know what will happen, but I hope the new normal will bring harmony and a balance between nature and people, and we will find ways to reconnect with our home “Planet Earth”.
