Did you know Edwin C Aldarin ???
Neither did I know... But I do now. He was the First Pilot for the US Apollo mission to Moon. He was working for the American Air Force, had experience of space walking and hence was naturally selected as the chief Pilot.
Overcoming all the challenges, he steered the Apollo to a perfect landing on the Moon. When the US Apollo mission did finally land on moon way back 1969, the mission crew inside received their first command from Ground Control @ NASA - "Pilot First"
But Aldarin was hesitant with deep thoughts....
"What will happen ?"
"Will I get sucked in?"
"Will I burn out?"
Thoughts that spiraled in his head....
This hesitation was not for hours but less than a few seconds !!!
And ground controls @NASA sent the next command, "Co-Pilot next"
Hardly the second command ended, the very next second, the Apollo Mission Co-Pilot Neil Armstrong stepped out and put his foot on the Moon..... and that day till today and for the centuries to come, he has become part of history !!!!
World history was changed in less than a second. Even though Aldarin had the qualification and talent, because of hesitation, he is not recognized or known to many people.
The world often remembers only person who comes first !!!
Aldarin was for sure one of the best in his fields and leading a NSS to land on the Moon, his sense of personal achievement and success of his mission to Moon has no compare. Admire and appreciate his abilities in successfully making one of the world’s best ever mission – and fulfilling the vision of several millions of Americans and the world.
I am indeed a very strong advocate of "Winning does not matter, a positive engagement of hard work, passion and commitment to self matters most" - which Aldrain possessed aplenty else he would not have been selected to pilot the Apollo Mission and neither would he have made the perfect landing on Moon, something unimaginable those times and perhaps even today.
However, this is classical example of how people lose out because of hesitation & fear ! Whenever we all see the moon, we must remember this, reflection of confidence a moment's hesitation and the fear of stepping ahead when it matters most can stop us from our greatest victory !!!
We all have some great potential in us, we continue to sharpen our minds and hands, at times the only thing that often stops us from achieving what we are supposed to achieve is our hesitation, fear and shyness.
