Me : Welcome Dinesh to the First Episode of "Life Coverage With Dinesh" Can you Tell us your Journey to Sales Profession

Dinesh: Thanks Dinesh for featuring me in the First Episode See, I began my sales journey when I was 22 years old. I was a graduate mechanical engineer and back then we did not had campus placements so I did not had a job offer post my graduation. I used to spend my leisure time watching movies, browsing internet and reading books on fictional stories.

The Pursuit of Happiness- This is the film that really inspire you to work hard, to work harder than anyone else can or does. For me it's the relentless drive that is the most powerful part of this film.

The Biggest Crime one can commit is going to bed without a Dream and waking up without a Purpose in Life. When you question your purpose in life, that is when you come to terms with what is wrong with your career and life.

I started studying about people who worked hard and how did they change their life and that is when I came across, Les Brown, Eric Thomas and Grant Cardone. Their Journey truly inspired me to have a purpose in life and I further started reading books from the motivational speakers – Tony Robbins, Zig Ziglar and one fine day when all the dots started connecting positively to each other I realized what I wanted to do in Life. It was Sales.

Sales is one of the oldest profession from the history and I wanted to learn Sales. I connected with my good old friend who was a Manufacturer of Garments in Ahmedabad City, I traded garments across wholesalers and retailers in Pune City. I decided to pursue MBA to study about Corporate Business. I was selling garments and I was pursuing MBA and I finally landed in a MNC. After working with Canon for 2 years, I decided to move to a startup and here I am today working with Insaas Software Pvt Ltd. 6 Years of Experience in Sales, From Garments, Copiers to Softwares. It has been an Incredible one.

Me : I found an interesting Tag Sales Doctor in your Linkdin Profile . Can you through some light on this?

Dinesh : In Sales, One thing which I understood is, Customers talk to you when you consult them with appropriate solution rather than selling your product or services. When I meet customers I speak less about Who I am, What do I do and Where am I coming from, instead I speak to them like a consultant which I call an approach of a Doctor to a patient. Doctors don't really prescribe a solution to a patient until they clearly diagnose and understand the root cause.  I follow the similar approach with my customers too. I like to discuss about their Business, Industry Vertical, Emerging Technologies which might Impact their Revenue Decisions and Consult them with what I am here to Offer and how my Product or Service can help their Business to Grow by Optimizing, Automating current Business Processes. A Consultative approach helps a Sales Professional to understand a customer’s problem well and help the customer with appropriate solution.

Me : Interesting!! Last but not the least - Your suggestion to budding sales professional.

Dinesh : Sales is stressful, demanding, frustrating, and also incredibly fun and rewarding. There is no other profession with as many ups and downs, where you can go from crying in the bathroom one minute to popping a bottle of champagne the next and then back to crying in your call the same day.

Think back 5 years ago. Think of where you’re at today. Think ahead 5 years and what you want to accomplish. If you quit now, you’ll end up right back where you first began. And when you first began you were desperate to be where you are right now.

Me : Thanks Dinesh , Your inputs are not only valuable for Sales professionals but for other professionals also.

Dinesh : Its my pleasure and thanks again for calling me.
