The Life of a Community — What to Expect from a Launch

The Life of a Community — What to Expect from a Launch

Yesterday, I spoke with our incredible Countdown to January 30-Day Challenge participants about the life of a community and what to expect from a launch.

We already have some notable launch wins including...

Glenna, who opened doors to her now paid members.

Leigh, who added a new tier to her membership.

Carolin, who is geared up for a second Mighty Network after launching her first.

Liam, who invited in his first members.

And Lisa, who onboarded her next 50 members.

All of them (and if you're creating a community, then you too) will go through the entire Life of a Community. Here's what to expect.

It starts with being Community Curious. This is when you make the decision, "Yes, I'm going to do this."

Then, we dive into Launch Prep. Setting up your community, finding your first members, and getting ready to open doors. Our challenge participants have been working through this step and are getting closer and closer to what comes next.

Launch Day. And maybe more importantly—launch reality.

I've seen more than a thousand launches. One thing that I've noticed come up again and again is how fixated we get on the things that go wrong vs. what went right.

We question what we did if not a lot of people showed up, does anyone even like us, is this even worth it, and the list goes on and on.

This is the Dip. It's important to recognize and not ignore the Dip.

Instead, you make the decision to move on from the Dip to Workshopping.

Workshopping is the solution to any Dip.

This is the time for you to be curious. What went well? What didn't go well?

From there, you begin experimenting. This is the most effective way to address the issues you come across while Workshopping.

Finally, when you embrace Workshopping you can quickly unlock Growth.

Ultimately, growth come from workshopping, not from your launch.

I'm curious. Where are you in the Life of a Community right now?
