Life is coming full circle...

Life is coming full circle...

Since 2014, I’ve been a stay-at-home mother of two. Managing the home, spending time with the children, taking care of their school schedules, and chauffeuring them around town for various art/dance/fitness classes was pretty much how my days looked like. With the pandemic striking us, everything moved online, it was getting all too stressful.

This was also a time I was testing the waters in terms of things I wanted to do. After all, apart from being a mother and a wife, I am also a woman with dreams and aspirations. Although there were quite a few things I wanted to try my hand at, I somehow felt restricted since there was no way to be out and about.

Just when the lockdown eased, I took up CrossFit to get myself back into shape and found it to be rather refreshing. It kept me sane and also gave me the energy & enthusiasm to get through the day.

The beginning of a new Journey

I’ve always believed that life will open up various opportunities and we must embrace them wholeheartedly. As I was settling into a daily routine with CrossFit, an opportunity from Brimma Tech knocked on my door. There was a position for a content creator and I thought to myself why not give it a shot? After the initial evaluations & discussions, I started my journey with Brimma in April 2022. Quite frankly my heart was pounding as I stepped into the premises. It was a daunting feeling to get back to the corporate world after so many years.?

The vibe of Brimma

The one thing that struck me almost immediately was the energy of the place. An eclectic mix of different age groups with varied experience levels got me a little jittery. I’m rejoining the workforce after 8 yrs. Questions like “Will I add value to this organization?” “How am I going to manage?” “Can I perform as well as the young guns here?”

Vibe of Brimma

The transition to the role happened seamlessly. Apart from the standard formalities that include a welcome mail with contact info of people you need to reach out to for your BAU, what stood out for me here was that you are handed a book - “Tribal Leadership'' by Dave Logan. This was quite intriguing.

With an effervescent tribe culture always hustling to get things done, my experience of being at Brimma has been nothing short of amazing!!! By virtue of being a flat organization, each one of us is an individual contributor. We huddle, collaborate, and achieve goals as a tribe and have a lot of fun doing it. Lunch times are equally high energy. It is like a potluck every single day. Each colleague brings home-cooked food and everything is shared.

The beauty of an organization like this is that everyday victories are celebrated. Each person is creative and is celebrated for who they are. Creating a culture of celebrating each other’s victories fosters an environment that makes people feel good about their accomplishments. An organization with people valuing themselves and their contributions translates to increased productivity.

Not just that, people are also encouraged to pursue their passions and I have had the flexibility to pursue my fitness and weightlifting aspirations whilst working. Over a period of time, I realized that's where my heart truly lies and I was able to openly share this with the leadership.

To my surprise and joy, the leadership was very receptive to my decision to quit. The tribe doesn't hold back someone when they want to explore.?

And now, with a heart at peace, my 6-month stint as a content creator at Brimma comes to an end. I’ve chosen to pursue something that I trust will take me into the next phase of my life/career. I am truly thankful for the time I’ve spent here. Brimma has given me the freedom to introspect and reflect on so many different aspects. Learning has no finish line and nothing is ever wasted. While following my passion, I will always carry everything I learnt here and of course, cherish the fond memories of connecting with such vibrant people.

If you ask me what my takeaway is, this is it - when you have a vision, and a passion, surround yourself with positive people who hear you and encourage you. In my case, I was fortunate to be part of an organization where people encouraged this rather bold decision of quitting corporate life and pursuing a role in the fitness industry.?

Thank you Brimma for letting my passion burn bright!!!
