According to polyvagal theory if you can't get control the autonomic nervous system will automatically down regulate from calm to fight-flight to freeze. No matter how hard you try to gain or apply knowledge it will be ineffective. No matter how hard you try to have a relationship, it will not happen. The process must be upward from control-attachment-meaning.
The mind spends 90% of its time in Default mode. [subconscious-system 1]. Of that 46% is spent in DMN Mind Wandering-negative according to Matt Killingsworth study of 15000 professionals.
