Life Coaches – Use These “Jump Through Your Ass” Email Hacks to Beat Your Competitors to Six-Figures

Life Coaches – Use These “Jump Through Your Ass” Email Hacks to Beat Your Competitors to Six-Figures

In the world of life coaching, not having an email list can lead to a lot of frustration.

Let me introduce you to a friend of mine. He's gone through countless coaching courses, hoping to succeed in his business.

But guess what? His business isn't doing as well as he'd hoped.

So, what's the deal?

While there are a few areas where he could make improvements, the main reason for his struggles is his marketing strategy.

Here's the thing: my friend believed that if he took all the courses, studied intensively, and followed every exercise recommended by coaching experts, he'd become the next big thing, like Tony Robbins.

But the reality is quite different. It's just not working out that way.

Gaining approval from a third party won't make you a successful life coach (or anything else, really).

That approach simply won't work.

I could dive into various strategies for business, success, and life coaches to grow their client base, but that would end up being a lengthy article.

Instead, I'll focus on a single avenue, revealing how you can attract clients and transform potential clients into enthusiastic supporters.

Why did I choose this particular approach? Because email is the mightiest free marketing tool at your disposal.

Are you prepared to take action?

Let's get started.

Elevate Your Strategy: Embrace Email Lists for Maximum Impact

It's a common pitfall across industries; business owners often get caught up in performing day-to-day tasks rather than channeling efforts into attracting customers and clients.

A notable marketer, Dan Kennedy, once shared an insightful anecdote from his time at a renowned diet food company.

In his role as the lead marketer, Dan submitted a salary raise request to the CEO and founder.

The CEO retorted, "Dan, if I grant you this raise, you'll end up earning more than me!"

Dan's response was composed and astute, "Joe, your company stands as the finest in the industry, excelling at what it does like no other."

"But," he continued, "I'm the one responsible for bringing customers into your business. Thus, my request for a raise holds merit."

With that, Dan left the CEO's office, with a salary increase in hand.

For those immersed in the coaching business, this tale underscores a crucial lesson: the heart of your enterprise lies in acquiring and retaining clients.

And guess what? Email marketing is an invaluable asset for achieving both these goals.

Conquer Your Toughest Marketing Obstacles with the Magic of Email

Although the online realm offers countless marketing funnels, when it comes down to it, marketing tasks can be simplified into three core objectives:

Attracting a greater number of life coaching prospects and clients.

Converting these prospects into customers who purchase your offerings.

Elevating your business by upselling premium items such as seminars, courses, affiliated products, and more.

However, achieving these aims without influence can prove challenging.

The solution lies in email marketing – a straightforward approach that holds the key.

Now, I could extend this discussion with over a thousand words, convincing you of the merits of this strategy. But I won't.

In fact, I have a superior suggestion – take a look for yourself.

Visit the leading coaching websites and observe if they incorporate email marketing into their operations.

I assure you; they do. And if they're benefiting from it, so can you.

Let's continue on our journey…

Building a Quality Email List That Drives Engagement and Conversions

As mentioned earlier, shift your attention away from coaching and toward marketing.

Numerous life coaches find themselves ensnared in the cycle of course studying, website building, or social media networking.

While these activities might offer some productivity, they can also devour valuable time.

The key lies in constructing a list.

Indeed, your primary focus should be on cultivating a premium client list, leading to a more streamlined coaching journey.

My Aha Moment - Why I Became a Believer in Email Lists

Around two decades ago, I ran a business focused on creating websites for clients. During that time, I received a call from a gentleman seeking updates for his websites.

Thankfully, he happened to be situated in the neighboring town, allowing us to arrange a meeting at his business premises. His operation was housed in a rented building, and his primary offerings revolved around information.

Yes, you read that correctly – he specialized in selling informational products related to achieving success in the realm of multilevel marketing. In essence, he operated as a success coach, providing courses on building a multilevel marketing venture.

This constituted the core of his business.

Remarkably, he managed a multitude of websites, with a majority of them serving as sales pages for his range of informational products.

To be candid, it was quite chaotic.

On a certain occasion, I proposed that I would come over to help organize his websites and address any issues that required attention. When the day came, I arrived at his business, only to discover that he was absent. It turns out that his father-in-law had left the building unlocked, allowing me to walk right in.

I promptly got in touch with him, informing him about the security lapse, which as it turned out, was a recurring problem.

?Seizing an Opportunity Within Those Walls?

Within the confines of that building, an unexpected opportunity awaited.

The space where I accessed his computer for website work served as a repository for his information products.

Mountains of these products surrounded me, and curiosity led me to explore his offerings.

As I perused his books, I was taken aback by their lackluster quality.

To my astonishment, he had taken content from his guru friends' websites, locally printed copies, and sold them as his own.

And remarkably, he had achieved millionaire status through this approach.

Now, let me be clear, I'm not implying he lacked effort or intelligence; quite the opposite. However, the material he was promoting was far from exceptional.

Later that day, as he finally arrived at work, I sought the key to his success. (Spoiler: It wasn't his writing skills.)

His response was profound.

"Elmo, it's the list I've meticulously cultivated – it's akin to pure gold. This entire operation revolves around constructing a list and effectively marketing to those who have shown interest."

Boom! The revelation struck like lightning.

Building and nurturing your email list should be your prime focus; let's dive in.

Take Your First Step Today

Before you embark on your journey to establish your life coaching guru status, there's crucial insight to consider.

Begin with one critical step: initiate the construction of your email list.

Don't procrastinate to next month, next week, or even tomorrow – commence the process right away.

Remember, a grand voyage begins with a solitary step, but waiting for a list to miraculously manifest won't lead to success.

Whether you're just starting your coaching venture today or have been at it for a while, prioritize the immediate initiation of your email list.

Let’s Get Moving! The Essential First Moves to Constructing Your Email List

Understanding the vital significance of creating your email list, let's dive into how you can initiate the process right away.

The first step is to access your personal email list.

Personally, I frequently use two email platforms – Gmail and Yandex.

Open your email account and send a message to individuals you personally know from your email inbox or sent folder.

(To clarify, I'm referring to those you know personally, not businesses in your inbox.)

Compose a simple message to inform them about the growth of your coaching business and inquire if they'd be comfortable being added to your mailing list.

Important Note: This would be an opportune time to craft your elevator pitch.

If you haven't developed one yet, check out this valuable article by brand marketing coach Stacey Hagen: "Elevator Pitch for Coaches."

An elevator pitch encapsulates your coaching business in a concise 10-second explanation.

As you proceed, apply a similar strategy for your social media contacts, everyone in your address book, and any other valuable connections you possess.

Your Email List Gains Momentum – Next Steps

Now, let's ramp things up with another approach to set the momentum in motion.

Upon composing your elevator pitch, rehearse it repeatedly until you've mastered it flawlessly.

Practice to the point where you can deliver it effortlessly – even while showering, enjoying a mouthful of spaghetti, or in the midst of skydiving.

Additionally, invest a few hours in crafting a free report to distribute online.

It could be a complimentary guide on habits, a 7-Day challenge handbook, or any other engaging content.

Head over to the Vistaprint website to get budget-friendly business cards printed.

(They can have the cards delivered within approximately 3 days.)

Once you have your cards, distribute them to acquaintances you meet or those you know, and present them with your elevator pitch.

Ask if they're interested in receiving your free report, and collect their email addresses.

Upon receiving their consent, ensure you add them to your email list.

Indeed, it's as straightforward as that

A Crucial Reminder – What Not to Do!

As you embark on this journey, remember your aim is to construct a high-quality email list.

While speed is desirable, avoid haphazardly adding numerous contacts to your list without thoughtful consideration.

Why, you ask?

Because your objective is to curate a quality email list tailored to a specific audience.

The closer your list aligns with your ideal recipient profile, the better.

To identify the right individuals, conduct research and contemplate the type of client you wish to attract.

Crucially, refrain from – I emphasize – buying an email list or outsourcing its creation.

Undertake this task yourself and remain focused on the precise audience you intend to engage.

Building an email list is a gradual process, so approach it with patience and care.

Consistently Develop Your Email List

Much like life coaching, effective email marketing demands a continuous commitment to action.

Your journey involves an ongoing effort of list building and maintenance.

Reaching a milestone of 10,000 subscribers doesn't signify completion.

Why?

Because email lists naturally decline over time.

Subscribers will opt out, some may surpass your assistance, and, unfortunately, attrition happens.

This is an across-the-board business reality, not just limited to coaching.

Hence, having a well-crafted welcome sequence ready for new prospects and clients is imperative.

6 Strategies to Expand Your Coaching Email List

Earlier, I suggested creating a free life coaching report to offer in exchange for email addresses.

This report serves as a lead magnet, and there's an array of lead magnets at your disposal:

·??????In-person meetups at trade shows, coaching events, etc.

·??????Downloads from blogposts

·??????Engaging popups like Hellobar

·??????Free webinars

·??????Useful checklists

·??????Templates and freebies

·??????Comprehensive eBooks

·??????Helpful templates

·??????Step-by-step blueprints

·??????Access to insightful videos

Naturally, an alluring incentive should be in place to encourage individuals to opt in, providing their email addresses.

As previously mentioned, understanding your audience is crucial, enabling you to address their concerns and the issues that keep them awake.

Integrate an Opt-in Box for Email List Growth

Having a coaching business website is as crucial as a business card; it bolsters your credibility.

Isn't that right?

I won't push you towards obtaining a website, but I'll emphasize its enormous potential for your life coaching venture.

Once you establish a coaching website, how can you optimize its impact?

(It's a question I anticipated you'd ask.)

Typically, an effective website features an opt-in box.

An opt-in box consists of an online form designed to collect email addresses from your visitors, prospects, and clients.

Usually, they're willing to share their email in exchange for a valuable lead magnet.

To provide an example, here's an opt-in box utilized by the successful multimillionaire coach, Bedros Keuilian:

Observe the Appealing Offer Exclusively for Coaching Site Visitors

A captivating offer tailored to life coaching site visitors is quite evident, presenting something beneficial, such as a service or valuable information.

Upon form submission, they will be automatically incorporated into your email list, enabling you to promptly send them an email message.

Enroll in an Email Marketing Platform

Most of you might already be familiar with this, but it's essential to enroll in and pay for an email marketing platform.

Don't fret; the cost for most platforms ranges from $20 to $40. Additionally, the platform I utilize offers a free starting option.

MailChimp boasts an exceptional introductory program that permits list building up to 500 email addresses and the sending of 1000 weekly emails.

I understand this might not seem extensive, but it's significant.

Remember my advice that constructing your email list requires time. Overnight expansion isn't realistic, and if it occurred, there could be an issue.

The focus should be on cultivating a QUALITY email list.

The objective is to attract specific individuals who will engage with your content and eventually become clients.

This undertaking necessitates time, and MailChimp offers an optimal solution.

(I've also penned another article detailing various email platforms you can explore. You can read it here: The Ultimate Guide to Email Marketing for Coaches)

Develop Content Assets

From blog posts to email newsletters and social media content, there's an array of content assets to employ in luring individuals to your opt-in box.

Blog Posts

Even if you possess a single-page website with an avenue for email sign-ups, you can still create blog posts.

An effective platform for this is LinkedIn, a social media site.

LinkedIn encourages content creation, providing users the ability to craft their own blog posts.

These posts, referred to as articles by LinkedIn, can be generated limitlessly with a free account.

Medium is another free platform suitable for composing blog posts. Remarkably, individuals have launched businesses solely using a free Medium account.

Much like LinkedIn, Medium empowers you to produce professional-level content that guides followers towards your opt-in box.

But what if you lack a website?

Both LinkedIn and Medium enable the creation of links directing users to your opt-in box.

In case you utilize an email platform like MailChimp, you can embed a link within LinkedIn or Medium to receive a complimentary opt-in box.

Here's how: How to Add Email Signup Forms on Medium.com

An additional approach to obtaining email addresses involves crafting a free eBook from your post. You can also design an opt-in box (or link) asking readers if they'd appreciate a free .pdf file in exchange for their email address.

Here's a link you could create:

Short on time to read the entire piece? Here's an eBook version of the post for later reading.

Naturally, the eBook will bear your contact information.

eBooks

I'm an advocate of repurposing my work.

(Though the word I intended to use is "repurposing," "regurgitating" adds a more intriguing touch.)

Transforming blog posts or a series into eBooks and adorning them with links leading to sign-up pages is an effective strategy.

Additionally, transcripts of webinars, speeches, and videos can be converted into blog posts, eBooks, infographics, and other assets featuring your embedded link.

Share Your Links Across Social Media Platforms

I've touched upon social media a fair bit, but it's worth emphasizing their efficacy in driving traffic to your site.

Take Collin Theriot, an esteemed copywriter from the Cult of Copy, as an example. He maintains four distinct business pages on Facebook, each of which directs users to his website for sign-ups.

For me, I maintain consistent posts on LinkedIn and ensure there's a link to my site included.

However, it's important to note that LinkedIn operates under specific rules when it comes to external links. They're not particularly fond of links that take users away from their platform.

Such links tend to receive lower rankings on LinkedIn.

But fear not, there's a workaround for this issue.

Place the link within the comment section below your post.

Allow me to illustrate this approach with an example:

No alt text provided for this image

(I couldn’t figure out why I read so many posts on LI that had links by the authors of the articles placed in the comment sections.)

I also put my blog posts on a Facebook business page.

But do you want to know something that surprised me? Facebook will let you place opt-in forms on your business pages.

Here is the way you can do it: Add a Signup Form on Your Facebook Page

Don’t Forget to Do This on Social Media

As l mentioned earlier, I use LinkedIn a lot, and if you check out my profile, you will see I have optimized it for life coaches looking for an email copywriter.

Also, you will see a link to my website, which leads to my opt-in box.

Anytime you use social media, whether on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, or Quora, leave your website address on it so that people will go to your sign-up page or opt-in box.

5. Use this to Increase Signups by 30%

Even if you have a great signup page or an opt-in box with an incredible offer, it’s still hard to get people to sign up.

So, if you’ve already started collecting emails on your site, and aren’t impressed with your results so far, don’t feel like the Lone Ranger.

If you follow the advice I’ve given you so far, and work it consistently, you will definitely get results.

One way to quickly increase your email list is to use a free popup tool called Hello Bar.

Hello Bar was thought up by the genius marketer Neil Patel, and it works great.

Here is Neil explaining what Hello Bar does:

I've been utilizing the free version of this email collection software, and it's been incredibly effective.

Hello Bar can serve as a pop-up covering your visitors' entire screen upon landing on your website.

Alternatively, you can incorporate an opt-in slide that accompanies users as they scroll down the page or set up stationary forms at both the top and bottom of each page they navigate to.

Installing Hello Bar was remarkably simple for me. For those with WordPress websites (which I highly recommend), you can install the plugin within seconds.

Give it a shot, and if it doesn't meet your needs or you decide it's not for you, uninstalling is equally swift.

Quick tip: While we're on the topic of opt-in boxes and email sign-up forms, here's another valuable insight: The free version of MailChimp offers free opt-in boxes that you can effortlessly integrate onto your site. If you're using a WordPress website, you can download the plugin and set it up in mere minutes.

Utilize Webinars, Podcasts, Videos, and Other Resources

Whatever resources you employ, find ways to incorporate your email link.

Yes, you read that correctly – if you step into the restroom, consider adding your email sign-up link to the toilet paper. (I'm curious how many will actually try this…)

Any communication tool you use presents an opportunity to share your email address.

So, whether it's your podcasts, webinars, or videos, leverage these resources. Encourage your listeners and viewers to visit your site and sign up for your list.

Under each post on these platforms, you have a designated space to provide information on how to access your free lead magnet and where to sign up.

Conclusion

One of the most actionable steps you can take is to commence right now.

(It's almost like I'm coaching coaches here!)

As Nike aptly puts it, "Just do it."

By embracing a strategic and actionable mindset, you can experience immediate outcomes and pave the way for sustained growth and triumph.

Here are a couple of other aspects to keep in mind:

Ensure you understand why you're building an email list. Conduct thorough research beforehand to define your target audience; comprehending their needs is paramount before you begin.

Deliver valuable content and guidance consistently across your marketing materials. If you're not aiding your readers, what incentive do they have to become clients?

Remember, you're nurturing significant relationships with your coaching business and its assets. Always prioritize their needs, preferences, and desires.

This approach will aid you in constructing an email list and fostering a community around your coaching enterprise.
