A Life Changing Experience
Are you in search of becoming a better leader?
How well does your team work together?
Where do your great ideas or revelations come from?
Last summer, I was fortunate enough to have an incredible experience that allowed me to get in the right mindset to explore important questions in a completely new way.
Yes, as we all are, I was busy with work commitments, family, etc., but people that I respect and admire had created an adventure that sounded like something I must attend, plus I believe in them. More importantly, they care about others.
July 2019, I find myself at Henry’s Fork in beautiful Island Park, Idaho. The lodge sits on the Snake River, one of the best Fly Fishing waters in the world. It is spectacular.
Very soon after my arrival, I'm starting to let go of all that is consuming me.
There they are, two of the best people on the planet, greeting me with that welcoming smile and an excitement of what is to come for me and my new friends.
The rest of the group is rolling in from all over the world -- a team of ten with incredible resumes, but more importantly, exceptional people.
I’m starting to get really excited… the executive recruiter in me!
We come together that evening, sharing our backgrounds, getting to know one another and then are asked THE question
“So, what is the MOST perplexing problem you are dealing with?”
For many of us, it was not an easy question to answer. But, that was ok...it would come.
We are about to embark upon a 4 day journey of all that goes into being an astute Fly Fisherman, then learn how to apply the learnings to life's challenges.
It sounded fun and interesting, but I learned much more than I expected.
The leaders put a great deal of thought into our pairing, making sure we were with the right partner and Fly Fishing Guide. It was absolutely perfect!
The story just keeps getting better.
There's an indescribable peace being on these waters. Oh, have I mentioned that this was also my first fly fishing trip. Everywhere you looked it was breathtakingly beautiful, with five-star meals to enjoy each day. But, what was most important were the bonds being created so quickly within the entire group. It was like nothing I have experienced before.
The climate that had been created was allowing for authentic openness to occur. The relationships, sharing and revelations began to appear.
By the end of Day 2, I thought to myself, “I don’t want this to end.”
Najeeb Ahmad and Scott Willett have done something incredible in creating “The Compleat Leader”
I won't walk you through the entire experience, but if you are thinking about investing in yourself or team, I am more than happy to share more details about their program.
