Life Changes

I am not your typical HR person probably because I am not a “typical” person.? I often attribute this to my dad telling me that I could be anything I wanted to be as a child. I took him very seriously.?The decisions of my past and the path forward are far from ordinary. A lot of my need to forge my own path was also fueled by a love for English literature.? It has always allowed my mind to wonder and imagine worlds that I could only dream of being a part of.
So my question is… did you know today is the Ides of March??
Truly my favorite day of the year not because it is the day that Julius Cesar died but because it is part of a core memory from my childhood and evokes the most exciting emotional response inside my soul. ?Let me try to share the excitement with you.
?? As we mark the Ides of March, a day historically remembered for its dramatic change and unforeseen outcomes, I find a deep personal resonance.
This period in history, marked by the assassination of Julius Caesar, signifies a pivotal turning point, reminding us that change, while often unpredictable, is an integral part of the human experience. Just as Rome faced a new era post-Ides of March, I too have stepped into a new phase of life with resilience and a sense of empowerment. Most recently by purchasing a home on my own, no co-owner, just me! It’s a journey that has made me proud to be a modern woman, embracing change with grace and fortitude.
Up until 1974, it was technically legal for financial institutions to refuse loans to unmarried women, or to require them to have a male co-signer.
Last year was a personally pivotal year. Finalizing my divorce, selling the family home we cherished since 2017, enrolling in law school, and embarking on a new chapter, I've embraced the essence of transformation that the Ides of March symbolizes.
It serves not just as a reminder of a critical juncture in ancient history but as a metaphor for personal rebirth. It underscores the importance of being prepared for life’s unforeseeable shifts and the strength found in #newbeginnings. As I navigate this new chapter with integrity and courage, I am reminded that just as history's tides turn, so too can our lives, leading us to unforeseen paths of growth and enlightenment.
Beyond personal transformations I have witnessed and contributed to significant professional pivots. At Fitlife Foods , we're redefining our strategy in 2024 with the launch of our B2B sales program and expanding our reach by adding coolers to gyms for additional pick-up locations. These moves not only signify growth but also our adaptability and foresight in meeting our clients' evolving needs.

Parallel to these professional endeavors, I am on the cusp of another monumental milestone—being just one year away from graduating law school. This journey, too, is a testament to embracing change and steering my own course with determination and vision. Reflecting on the cautionary tale of Julius Caesar, I see parallels in the navigation of power dynamics, leadership, and the importance of vigilance. However, my story diverges by learning from his missteps—valuing collaboration over domination, #listening as much as leading, and remaining acutely aware of my environment and the counsel of those I trust.
This blend of personal and professional transformation, set against the backdrop of an ancient lesson, underscores a profound truth:
We are the architects of our fate
By acknowledging the tides of change and moving with purpose and precaution, we avoid the pitfalls that history has laid bare. My journey, though filled with its own set of challenges, is a narrative of foresight, adaptation, and resilience.
As I look forward to what the next year brings, both in my personal life and my role at Fitlife Foods, I'm reminded of the power of strategic change. Like Rome in the aftermath of the Ides of March, I am building something new from the foundations of the past. But with the wisdom of hindsight and the clarity of vision, my story will diverge towards a future filled with promise, success, and the fulfillment of avoiding past missteps.
May the Ides of March continue to inspire us all to be vigilant, adaptable, and forward-thinking leaders in our lives and careers, crafting our own narratives of triumph and transformation.
