Life and Business Need Deadlines

Life and Business Need Deadlines

As September begins, my wife has entered the last two months of her pregnancy. Seven months, six months and even three months out felt like we had plenty of time. But we are now rapidly approaching her due date of October 19th. So, we have been extra busy this past month to prepare for our daughter's arrival.

We were living in a top floor apartment with a winding staircase that was proving to be the wrong answer to get a newborn and stroller up and down the stairs post birth. We moved to a new apartment with an elevator close by the hospital, which was no small task on our own during Ayfer's third trimester.

After too much research, we finally agreed on a safe car seat and stroller. The purchase was made, and we are both happy with our decision. And despite it taking a long time with some high custom taxes, my daughter will be able to wear her Minnesota Twins and Vikings outfits as soon as she arrives!

While we've been productive, our task list is not complete. We still have important newborn items to buy. And our doctor has encouraged us to take a new parents and childbirth class given by the hospital that we have yet to sign-up for. Add in the fact our daughter could come early, and we are feeling the pressure from the deadline of our "baby checklist".

Deadlines push us to hit our goals. If you don't have a quota or deadline to push you, make your own. No one can push you harder than yourself. Get moving to make it a productive day by hitting your self-induced targets.

Regardless of whether or not you are expecting a child, planning a trip or executing a ninety day business plan for your professional career, your time will run out. Time is the greatest equalizer for humanity. We each only get 24 hours a day and 7 days in a week. And each second of the 86,400 you receive in a day, you get to decide what to do next. Use your time wisely and enjoy it whether you are getting ready for a newborn or preparing to crush your next month in sales!
