Or Why Profit Maximisation is Robbery.
Every time governments or people negotiate with the big corporations, they keep coming back to the same lies. And our society seems to accept the insane logic of those lies, as much as too many still believe in trickle down. It's time to break the lies down. See how they lead to plunder on many levels, keeping a blind eye to global needs. They rob their workers, governments, consumers, our nature, our health, all for profit that benefits very few people really.
The Big Lie
What is a company or business enterprise for?
They tell you it is to make as much money as possible. They tell you going for increasing profit is the logical thing everyone should do. They bullshit us that if we all, in a free and fair playing field, enrich ourselves as best as we can, the whole of society will grow to the best possible one. Those that tell you 'this is the best possible foundation for society' lie. They tell this, because it enriches them. And their 'successes' blind us to daily excesses that make many people suffer as a consequence.
How does this lead to robbery on many levels?
Pure logic. How do corporations maximise profits?
- Companies that focus on maximising profits start with stealing first from nature. They ravage the land for the resources they need. Replanting trees is rare. Fair wages to miners are rare. Healthy work conditions are rare. Pollution as a result isn't.
- Then they steal from their consumers by promising more than they deliver.
- On top of that, they use marketing and advertising sell much more than you really need of their products and services.
- The next step is to diminish the integral quality of their service. You get offered bread with sawdust, meat full of growth hormones and water, addictive tastes and ingredients?to get people hooked. And your insurance has so much small print, that too often they don't pay out at all.
- Then they rob the workers of fair pay, all to increase the bonuses for the best robbers, and make shareholders rich. And with laws that don't protect workers, not having social safety nets, they keep them almost as serfs.
- Then the packaging, production methods, and waste are often all polluting. But 'somehow' they rarely pay for the consequences. They make adds where they make us feel responsible for my plastic wrapper. Wrappers they could have started over 40 years ago to make sustainable, but no, they hardly tried.
- And lastly they avoid taxes and let the people pay for all the clean up needed for the mess they made.?Why, because it is cheaper to buy politicians with donations or promises of cushioned jobs after their career than to pay their fair share and invest in all resources they use.
Thus we the people pay with our taxes for all the damages the corporations make within a law (they helped write). This is the current 'normalcy' (read 'accepted insanity') of way too many corporations. And if good at it, they get applauded on the cover of fortune 500.
The result is that profit maximisation hollows out the very foundation of civilisation.?
What Should Be the Truth?
What should companies and business enterprises really be for?
Corporations are here to provide services and products society needs.
- They have to stay relevant, not perse successful. If demand for their offers drops, perhaps it’s time to go.
- They should respect and serve the whole of the living system they are a part of.? They should work with nature in a way that all they take can be replenished (read regenerative design, a term too few people know).
- They should make products and services that makes both workers and users get healthier.
- They should help workers have a social meaningful life. Yes, all work can be organised to be meaningful. I believe if we had basic incomes companies would be forced to make work meaningful, because then I had the choice to leave.
- Profits to research, innovate and improve their work are okay. ..
- But they should drop all bonuses for management that incites choices driven by greed. It attracts the wrong kind of managers and leads to greed crimes.
- Most of Wall Street is gambling. Stocks should make essential big projects possible, not be a casino for the rich, where losses can be paid for by the masses.
- Their management should work very much like nurses, like teachers, like community workers, for the people and their society. They should be focussed of what matters and has meaning. Leading with a focus on (self)enrichment should be forbidden. Thus managers should be paid much less, so the right caring people come, not the best robbers. Perhaps the best examples are small family companies and?farms?that have existed for centuries.?
Growth is not the essence of economy, a living ongoing natural cycle is.
Comment of the sage: “How we could ever have believed the lies of the richest robbers is way beyond me. How our politicians rather dance to their tune than to reason is beyond me.”
Comment of the fool: “You admitting this is what’s beyond me. Greed makes the worst leaders. That is so easy to see for those who are free from such desires.”

2 年Florin you are way too negative... think of all the good the Billionaires are doing... they are all ending up donating to charity like crazy... who cares that they did not pay taxes if they give all that money to charity... just look at Bill Gates do you know of any more generous person in this world? Look at this list... without profits they could not shine at all....Most companies are now meaningful.... because without meaning they can not get any staff... maybe you have a game that we can use for a serious play inspiration day....
