A Day at the Hair Salon: New Hairstyles for Liceulice Vendors in Novi Sad & Belgrade?

The Hairdressing Academy in Dalmatinska Street, Belgrade, recently hosted about twenty Liceulice vendors from Belgrade and dedicated their entire working day to them. On that occasion, four hairdressers/educators delighted our vendors with brand-new haircuts, blow-drying, and packages of Schwarzkopf Professional products.

A similar event was organized by the?Feniraj hair salon?in Novi Sad, which hosted our vendors Mira and Sne?a. "We love the Liceulice organization! Every day we see women selling magazines. We wanted to welcome them with love, show them they are not alone, and support them with small kindness. We will remember the smiles on their faces forever", we were told at the Feniraj salon. "I was very surprised. At first, I thought it was a joke", says Mira, "When I saw that the girls were happy, then we both started. I love my new haircut. The whole thing was wonderful!"

Liceulice Vendors as Curators in the National Museum?

Thanks to the initiative of the?National Museum, Liceulice vendors visit this institution once a month. After visiting a part of the installation, vendors attend creative workshops on a specific topic. One of our vendors, David Jankovi? Da?a, recently got the chance to prove himself as a museum curator. After several months of training, in which the employees of the National Museum and our team working with beneficiaries participated, Da?a successfully guided his colleagues through the part of the installation related to archeology and prehistoric culture on the soil of today's Serbia. This program of inclusion for marginalized groups through cultural participation was shortlisted by the?International Network of Street Newspapers?(INSP) as one of the best support programs for vendors in the world in 2021 and 2022.

Can you bring more opportunities to our vendors, that otherwise wouldn't be available to them, and so encourage them? Then please contact us at?[email protected]

Playstudios, British Embassy, and Cactus Festival Support for Liceulice

The survival of the Liceulice Fund depends on support from the business sector and international donors. We would like to thank many old and new friends and partners who have been with us in the past, supporting us with donations, campaigns, and various humanitarian actions!

The support of the company?Playstudios, which through the Emphaton program encourages the social responsibility of their employees and encourages them to support a humanitarian organization or cause, was extremely important to us; last year's winner was Liceulice. The generous donation from the Playstudios company helped us to cheer our vendors with new backpacks and warm shoes just in time for the winter holidays, but also to cover part of new magazine issues printing costs!

Employees of the?British Embassy?in Belgrade joined our vendors in street sales for the first time. Liceulice vendors, to whom Milica and Aleksandra from the British Embassy give English language lessons, this time acted as sales mentors, and along the way, they got a chance to practice conversation and prepare for the new course of English language, which is about to start.?

We are very proud that the?KAKTUS Festival?chose Liceulice as an inspiration for young talents (KAKTUS Talents - powered by SBB) in marketing. The winning team from the marketing agency??i?ka?designed the New Year's campaign Liceulice 2033, which was promoted on social media by actor Milan Mari?, singers Sara Jo and Zoe Kida, journalists and activists Lana Nikoli? and Iva Para?anin, as well as the famous journalist duo Marko ?vaka.
