A License to Complain

I once heard a fellow aviator quip, "A private pilot license is a license to learn. A commercial pilot license is a license to complain." I have to admit that this seems to be not far from the truth for many people. As soon as we flip the switch from amateur to earning a living as a professional, it is all too easy to feel entitled to complain. There is hope though. All through our ranks there are professionals who haven't succumbed to a routine of whining. They see the problems. They know that their job is far from perfect. Yet they refuse to take on a toxic attitude. The keep their heads out of the sand, solve the problems, and do it with a smile. They know their attitude is just as much a part of the "quality of life" equation as the nuts and bolts of their contract. Have you ever met a colleague like this? What qualities in that person stood out to you?
