Libra (In Mark we Trust...!?! )

Libra (In Mark we Trust...!?! )

So... Libra!

Where or how do i start? I have been meaning to write an article about this for some time now, but it seems the more research i do - the more articles i read and videos i watch, the more questions i'm left with!

hmm.. ok well i guess instead of making this article about what i know; how about i talk about where i still have questions and hope you guys can help clear some of it up.

I want to believe so much that this is a good thing, i feel like it most probably will be, but facebook is a very self preservative organisation that seemingly will and can do anything to survive, which is evident because unlike Hi5 and MySpace - haha (sorry), Facebook has proven time and time that they are fighters and are here to stay. so there is no question, good or bad, Libra has, or is, the future.

So what is Libra? Imagine Disney dollars, but for the internet, which you have to trade real money for, so... kind of; but not really like Bitcoin, more like Paypal. basically it doesn't increase in value the longer your keep it, it's main purpose is that it's supposed to be money but on the internet... i think i just confused myself!

Imagine the internet as a country, and Libra (which simply put is money by facebook), is its currency, this currency will have a value which will only convert to what ever your local currency will be trading for at that current point in time.

If you'r asking if this tender will be accepted in the real world? Then that my friend, is question number one!

Facebook is the most popular social media platform to date, with such a wide range of awareness, and the majority of top tier organisations backing Libra such as Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Upay, Uber, eBay, Lyft, Vodafone... should i keep going? because you know i will! - It shouldn't take a fortune teller to see that success is imminent.

But i wonder... would i be able to pay the plumber for breaking my sink even more after bending over far enough for me to understand why they say 'crack kills' or get a pack of real cheesy Cheetoes from my local corner shop since all the major supermarkets have an anti-delicious snacks policy?

"that will be 2 Libra's please..." But i digress.

2. Can i trust to put my hard earned money into this?

We have all heard the stories, Facebook profiles being hacked or profiles being flagged as fake, how do i know that my money is safe?

This segways me to my third point.

3. Anonymity?

Libra as far as i understand it, will be more or less like Paypal because unlike cryptocurrency that works on a pier to pier algorithm, where the trust is in the code, Libra works by trusting in the third party organisations backing it.

Most of us try hard to keep our private life just that... Private! We hide our house numbers from pictures and refrain from making silly mistakes like letting our holiday picture show our passport details, how much of our personal data would we have to feed into Calibra (which would be the Libra wallet app).

4. Why Libra?

What is going to set it apart from Upay, Paypal or Coinbase even? Is it just going to be a clever more convenient digital wallet and money transfer platform or is there going to be more to it and how could it benefit us that are always open to innovative ways of making money?

Personally the only thing i like more than spending, is making money and a good friend (@Gene O. Kyei) once told me "the harder you work the less time you have to spend your money", however, with today's working to phone checking ratio at 1:3 ... i say guess again money chuckers! that cool tie clip you will never use will be a click easier and faster than grabbing another cup of coffee or sending that email you have been meaning to send all morning.

------ i've added a few pretty good links below, enjoy ;)
