Liberty Two Degrees observes World Tourism Day

World Tourism Day was observed recently and as Liberty Two Degrees, we understand that there is no better opportunity to reflect on the huge impact of the tourism industry. Tourism is not only a driver of economic growth, but it is also a force for positive change in our nation. More than just leisure and travel, it creates jobs, boosts local businesses and contributes to our country’s GDP.

We recognise the role we play in supporting and promoting sustainable tourism in our country through our portfolio of assets. Our shopping malls, hotels and other commercial spaces serve as one of South Africa’s most attractive tourist destinations both for international and local visitors. ?

Take for instance the Sandton Convention Centre which is a multipurpose venue which has hosted over 180 events in 2023 including the first-ever BRICS Summit on South African soil this year in August. This significant event not only marked a milestone in international diplomacy, but also highlighted the remarkable capabilities of our country’s world class offering for tourist attractions. With a capacity of 10 to 10000 people, the Sandton Convention Centre is undoubtedly the most flexible Centre in the country, and will play host to a large number of conferences, exhibitions, meetings and entertainment events in 2023, with the successes of these events being carried into 2024.
