Liberty Industrial Wins Two World Demolition Awards for projects in Australia and Scotland
Stockholm, Sweden – Liberty Industrial is excited to announce it has won two World Demolition Awards for 2024, the Industrial Demolition Award for Argyle Diamond Mine Closure and the Explosive Demolition Award for the Northern Producer Decommissioning Project in Scotland, reinforcing Liberty Industrial as a global contractor of choice in delivering safe and successful, large scale and innovative decommissioning projects.
The Northern Producer Decommissioning Project is Liberty Industrial’s first award for their work in the UK. This unique project was recognised for its innovative “first of its kind” approach, decommissioning in a dry dock, and executing a precise, controlled, and safe explosive demolition of the 11,200t asset.
The Argyle Diamond Mine Closure Project received the Industrial Demolition Award, highlighting Liberty Industrial’s ability to deliver world class mine site closure outcomes for a highly complex and challenging project in a remote region of Australia.
The World Demolition Awards is the premier event for the demolition industry, bringing together leading contractors from around the world. This event showcases complex and major projects from across the globe, whilst also providing a forum for equipment and attachment manufacturers to engage directly with industry. These two awards bring Liberty Industrial's tally to an impressive 8 World Demolition Awards since first participating in the event in 2012.

3 个月How sad, seeing pictured here in the photograph to the right, the demolition of the heavy media plant section of the Argyle plant. Of course all mining projects have a finite life, followed by closure. And when we, the original Rio Tinto and VEL/Minenco project team, designed and put the Argyle project into service (in 1985) it had a targeted mine life of 15 years (so towards Year 2000, one might have thought). But with technological enhancements, and being ourselves involved with Rio Tinto in some serious innovation and engaging in some relatively minor, but carefull targeted capital expansion project investment, the original 3Mtpa nameplate capacity was more than trebled, and the mine life also at least doubled - making this the most impressive diamond carat-producing operation that the world has ever seen. By far! So kudos to all involved, from inception to demolition! We’ll not be seeing something like this again anytime soon.
