Commissioner hearings: Liberals approved so far
Between 4-12 November, the European Parliament held confirmation hearings for the candidates to the next European Commission. Three highly qualified European Commissioners, Hadja Lahbib, Michael McGrath, and Marta Kos, have been approved for important portfolios, while two more, Kaja Kallas and Stéphane Séjourné, are pending confirmation. Liberals are well represented to ensure that our values and policies are reflected at the highest levels of European diplomacy and policymaking.
Latvijas attīstībai elect new leadership at Congress
On 9 November, Juris Pūce was unanimously elected as the new chair of ALDE Party member Latvijas attīstībai in Latvia at a party Congress.?Pūce, formerly a member of the Saeimas and Latvia’s Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development, will lead the party’s new board which includes Ivars Ijabs MEP and Artis Pabriks as deputy chairs.?
Young liberals gather for LYMEC Autumn Congress
On 8-10 November, young liberals from all over Europe gathered in Warsaw, Poland for the Autumn Congress of the European Liberal Youth (LYMEC).?Over the course of the three-day event, over 150 participants met for various thematical debates and engaged in insightful discussions with fellow youth organisations and representatives.?
