Liberals at NATO Summit reaffirm Ukraine support

On 11-12 July, liberal leaders from across Europe attended the NATO Summit in Vilnius to discuss Putin’s ongoing war in Ukraine and the future confirmation of Sweden’s accession to NATO. Allies agreed that Ukraine’s future is in NATO and they will be in a position to invite Ukraine to join the Alliance when all parties agree and conditions are met.

Liberal Commissioners deliver 2023 Rule of Law Report

Last week, liberal European Commission Vice-President Vera Jourová and Commissioner Didier Reynders presented the annual Rule of Law report, which examines yearly developments on EU countries’ national justice systems, anti-corruption frameworks, media pluralism and other institutional checks and balances. The report praised reforms implemented by Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel and Estonia Prime Minister Kaja Kallas.

DP presents programme for 2023 Luxembourg elections

On 8 July, ALDE Party member DP - Demokratesch Partei held a party Congress to present the programme for Luxembourg's general election in October, confirming Prime Minister Xavier Bettel as lead candidate. Under the slogan “Close to you”, DP aims to improve quality of life and strengthen purchasing power in Luxembourg to support the needs of the middle class, families and businesses.
