What inspired you to join our LGBTQIA+ colleague resource group (CRG), and how has your involvement impacted your sense of belonging at BPM?
Since high school, I have always been part of groups supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, starting with the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA). I take immense pride in being a strong ally and strive to be a safe person to talk to. Joining the LGBTQIA+ CRG at BPM has allowed me to build a supportive community outside of my practice group. It's a wonderful group that offers valuable advice and support whenever needed.
What advice would you give to young LGBTQIA+ professionals who are just starting their careers and may face unique challenges?
As you enter the workforce, I suggest building up a supportive network. Embracing authenticity, focusing on skill development and leveraging professional and online communities can help you navigate unique challenges and foster career growth. Prioritizing self-care and resilience are also crucial for long-term success.

How can allies support the LGBTQIA+ community within the workplace?
Allies can support the LGBTQIA+ community in the workplace by advocating for inclusive policies, speaking up against discrimination and creating a welcoming environment.
What does Pride Month mean to you personally and professionally, and how will you celebrate this year? Personally, Pride Month means a lot to me. My family is diverse within the LGBTQIA+ community, and I've always been my siblings' biggest supporter and cheerleader. I recently had the honor of officiating the wedding of one of my brothers. Professionally, I believe everyone should feel free to be their whole selves, both at home and at work, without facing discrimination. This year, I will be celebrating by attending Pride festivities in Dallas, Texas.

9 个月Madison, did the firm ever do anything in a lasting memory of Allen? He was the first BPM employee to sucumb to AIDS while an employee of the firm. He made a lasting impact on many of us. Feel free to contact me for any details if this is new to you and you are interested.
