Welcome to the Local Partnerships May monthly roundup e-newsletter.
It’s been a busy month at Local Partnerships as we prepare for the Local Government Association Conference in Bournemouth. The conference is one of the highlights of our year, as we get to meet and greet colleagues from across the local government family. We’ll be at stand P22, so please do come along and say hello. We also have a slot in the prestigious Innovation Zone.
We’ll have experts from each of our three business units (Climate, Commercial and Place) to discuss pertinent issues and the support Local Partnerships can offer your council. We will also launch our 2022-23 Impact Report which demonstrates the successes we have helped our clients achieve over the previous year.
It’s also local government awards season! We are very much looking forward to attending the Local Government Chronicle Awards on 8 June. We are a sponsor of the event, which is always an inspiring night that celebrates the very best of local government.
In collaboration with TheMJ , we conceived and sponsor the award “Leadership in responding to the climate emergency” which we look forward to presenting.
Congratulations to our finalists:?
Brighton & Hove City Council Essex County Council Gateshead Council Newcastle City Council Oxford City Council Reading Borough Council
The winner will be announced at the award ceremony on 23 June. Good luck to everyone involved and we hope to see you there!
Kind regards,
We are delighted that we have been selected to present a session on our?Greenhouse Gas Accounting Tool, and new Waste Emissions Calculator,?at the LGA Conference’s Innovation Zone on 5 July. Set within the wider conference, the Innovation Zone offers a lively and interactive space to share cutting edge work with delegates. We’d love to see you at our?3.25pm - 4.10pm slot?to learn more about the tool alongside Cambridgeshire County Council .
The Greenhouse Gas Accounting Tool was developed by us, working with the LGA, to provide a straightforward and consistent approach for councils seeking to calculate their own carbon baseline. Earlier this year, we added the Waste Emissions Calculator, developed by Cambridgeshire County Council and 英国伦敦大学学院 , to help local authorities understand carbon emissions from their waste management and treatment operations.
On?Tuesday?13 June?at?11am,? Local Partnerships LLP Partnerships?and the?Greater London Authority will be hosting an online event focused on decarbonising the UK’s healthcare sector with increased pace and scale by using the public sector’s?Re:fit framework.
The free to attend webinar will be an opportunity to hear peer success stories and future ambitions, as well as to learn what worked well and the challenges they faced.?Members of the team will also be on hand to explain the benefits of using the Re:fit framework and how to access fully managed support with Anthony Lawson MBA MSc BEng (Hons)

As part of our work with the Gwasanaeth Ynni Llywodraeth Cymru | Welsh Government Energy Service (WGES), we supported a new Salix Finance event in Wales this month that brought together speakers from a range of sectors to share ideas and visions about reaching net zero in Wales.
Two sold out “Journey to a net zero Wales” events took place, one in Llandudno and one in Newport. Victoria Camp and Rhys Horan from Local Partnerships both ran fantastic sessions on stakeholder engagement. As part of our work with WGES, we helped create a guidance note on stakeholder engagement which is freely available to use. The guidance uses case studies and examples to explain how to engage with the right stakeholders at the right time and how to maintain engagement from inception through delivery and into monitoring.
We are hiring! We currently have Director and Assistant Director positions open in both our Climate and Place business units, helping the public sector to reach net zero targets and adapt to a changing climate or delivering programmes related to housing, infrastructure, health and more.
