LG wants to put NFTs on your TV
Could your TV be the perfect place to display NFTs? LG thinks so.
In a recent trademark filing, LG outlined its intention to make it easier to display NFTs on its technology and to offer:
The trademark application also reveals plans to provide “e-wallet payment services and software for exchanging electronic money in the metaverse.”
More Web3 action. Love. It.
The application isn’t the first signal of LG’s intentions. LG already released NFT-related products and indicated it was working with Refik Anadol to display art on the OLED TVs, noting the NFT collection contains audio and video.
Samsung and eBay are also unveiling products to allow users to purchase NFTs as eBay takes it a step further by creating exchanges and NFT trading. Mastercard, too, has indicated - again through trademark applications - that it will offer a range of products in the metaverse in the near future.?
My take: All of this is a clear sign that Web3 and NFTs will not be stopped.

Recently, a Finbold report echoed the eBay/LG/Mastercard/Samsung enthusiasm, noting that in the U.S. alone, the number of NFT-related trademarks surpassed 4,000 between January 1 to May 31, 2022 - and a study report by Grand View Research, Inc., estimates that the global metaverse market is slated to amass USD $678.8 billion by 2030.
So, how can we prepare? By reading my newsletter. Just kidding! By staying on top of new tech, adapting as much as we can, and being prepared to pivot ~ much like we did when Al Gore invented the Internet. Just kidding again. ...
But, seriously, now is the time to learn more! That is exactly why we created Into The Meta News - and that is exactly why we have been working hard to develop an education hub with tools and resources you can use in addition to the latest Web3 news.
Want to talk about it? Tune in Sunday on Twitter Spaces - I am joining Crypto Tech Women, which is a really popular NFT collection and platform - to chat about all things Metaverse fashion (aka wearables). Yes! I actually went to a CBS Ghosts party last week, which was cool, and a Christian Lacroix party in Decentraland (a very cool metaverse) yesterday and it was ahhhhmazing. Check out my rainbow hair!
What I love most about Web3 and the Metaverse? You can be anything and do anything! The opportunities are endless. And, apparently, we are going to be able to watch all of it on TV, thanks to LG. So, there's also that. =D
All the best,
