Hi, my name is Bev - Beverley if my mum or late dad was talking to me ??.

I am on my third week working for Lexxic which is both challenging and extremely interesting. I work as an Operations Admin Assistant working from home, which involves working in a team covering all administration queries and helping clients and employees with neurodiversity. As this is only my third week, there is a huge amount of the job and duties I have yet to learn and I am raring to go.

Previously, I worked for 9 years at a disability company working as a coordinator for mental health. The role was very busy with up to 30 referrals coming into the department each day. I enjoyed developing and maintaining close working relationships with access to work advisors and our own company consultants to ensure a coordinated and cost-effective service was delivered to customers.

I have also worked in: Human Resources – Learning & Development – MHSS – Coordinator – Admin duties – Company secretary – Managing Director and many more.

Joining Lexxic during COVID has been somewhat strange as I have not met any of my colleagues in person, although we frequently have Zoom calls and team meetings so I can e-meet them. The team at Lexxic have been so wonderfully friendly and helpful from my very first day of employment. I remember the day I was told Lexxic was offering me the role and I was jumping for joy.

I have already completed many training courses in Neurodiversity using Lexxic’s own Neurotalent Unlocked platform. It was great to see familiar faces on the training videos as I recognised the Psychologists as Lexxic’s own team! These training videos have really educated me about the differences in Neurodiverse conditions and how to support them at work. I personally don’t have a Neurodiverse condition, but I found the strategies provided in the Modules helpful and innovative for my own ways of working, especially the ADHD and Autism Modules – this made me realise the challenges people have and how this can be overcome with support from Lexxic.

I have also been on a training course to use Dragon Naturally Speaking, Read and Write and MindView – all assistive technology software that Lexxic recommends to their clients – this was extremely informative.

On my second day, I had the opportunity to shadow a dyslexia screening and workplace needs assessment which was fascinating, motivating and can’t wait to shadow more assessments. I realised that you don’t always need to complete a formal assessment to get the support and adjustments at work. I thought that it was great that it could be completed remotely, especially in this climate with COVID. This ensured that we could complete this individual’s appointment as soon as possible with no delay.

If you are interested in finding out more about our Neurotalent Unlocked eLearning platform, or any training to use some assistive technology, please get in touch – [email protected] +44 (0) 845 643 275

I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Bev
