Leviticus' 50th Anniversary

In 1971, something remarkable happened in New York City: eight young Black men turned midtown Manhattan into a hot party zone. We called ourselves The Best of Friends and we promoted nine different after-work discotheques at five venues. Then, in 1974, we built a discotheque called Leviticus that paved the way for the disco craze.

By 1977, the disco craze was a global phenomenon. What was the appeal of this new cultural happening? Disco music was the voice of a generation that used the power of dance to unite people.
